Motivation is a resource spent on activities in Dagsion in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave. It sits alongside the game's other downtime currencies rather than replacing any of them, and the point worth holding onto is that it is not the same thing as time: the stretch between matches is measured in turns, and Dagsion activities draw on Motivation instead.
The clearest published use is arena training. The arena plaza menu pairs two characters against each other and runs a chosen program, and the cost is charged in gold and in Motivation together. One session observed in play cost 300 gold out of 550 on hand, taught Cai the Raging Tempest combat art and pushed up his spear rank.
What Is Spent | On What | What Is Known |
|---|---|---|
Turns | World map movement and resting | One turn covers three dots of world map movement, and is reported to cover six in-game hours. Deserts move slower |
Motivation | Activities in Dagsion | Charged alongside gold for arena training. The full list of activities it covers has not been published |
Gold | Shops, training, carriage travel | Spent from the party purse |
Weekly uses | Training, temple service, meals, gifts | Each has a fixed number of uses within a week, refreshed when a new week begins |
That separation matters for planning. A player who has turns left but no Motivation and a player who has Motivation but no turns left are in different situations, and the weekly caps on training, temple service, shared meals and gift-giving are a third constraint on top of both. Between-Match Preparation sets out the loop the three sit inside, and World Map and Exploration covers what a turn buys once the party leaves the capital.
As of September 2026, no official presentation, press release or system explainer states how Motivation is earned, whether it has a cap, whether it refreshes weekly the way the capped activities do, or whether it is tracked per unit or for the party as a whole. The only activity it has been shown attached to is arena training; whether the shopping arcade, the temples, the Exam Proctor, quests or recruiting draw on it as well has not been stated. No numeric cost for any activity other than the 300 gold training session above has been published.
Between-Match Preparation covers the free time between matches and everything Dagsion offers inside it. Combat Arts covers the moves training teaches, and Certification Exams covers the other thing the capital's facilities are used for.
