Sky Cults
Sky cults formed among the Underdwellers when their excavations broke open paths to the surface and they encountered the sky for the first time. Pre-launch material describes the rediscovery as a fracture in their society. Cults formed. Temples rose. Cities were built not downward, but upward, climbing higher and higher, as if to chase the sky they had once forgotten.
Why The Cults Formed
The Underdwellers had spent centuries in the dark; the sun, moon, stars, and clouds had become metaphor and half-remembered myth.
Suddenly confronted with the literal versions of those metaphors, parts of the population responded with religious awe.
Other parts of the population stayed underground or remained skeptical, cementing the cults as a faction within the larger Underdweller civilization rather than the Underdweller civilization as a whole.
What The Cults Built
Temples reaching upward toward the sky.
Cities built upward rather than downward, inverting the architectural logic of underground civilization.
Likely some of the crumbling sanctuaries the Druid finds across Solace.
Open Questions
Specific cult names, leaders, doctrines, and the relationship between the cults and the broader surface population are unrevealed. Whether the cults are aligned with the surface or oppose it is also unclear.
