Classes and Skills
September 15, 2026 at 08:23 AM
Initial version (2026-09-15)
The character growth pillar of Eternal Anima is labelled Class System in Latin letters on the Japanese and Traditional Chinese official sites, subtitled 育成 and 培育, meaning growth or cultivation. The mechanic underneath it is named 叡智継承 in Japanese and 傳承智慧 or 传承智慧 in Chinese, which translate as the inheritance of wisdom. Our romanization of the Japanese is eichi keishō; it is not official. Western marketing gives the same feature the English headline of inheriting abilities that transcend eras.
Growth does not come from a conventional class-selection screen, at least not in anything published so far. It comes out of Psychometry and Anima. Objects scattered throughout the world hold the thoughts and memories of the people who owned them; reading those memories lets Wade inherit the Class and Skills of the past hero who held that object. Western publisher copy describes the same act as deciphering abilities by drawing on the power within artifacts.
The second half of the official description is the part that matters for builds: the inherited pieces can be combined freely, and the stated result is a battle style that belongs to the player. That is the whole of what has been published about the combination rules. No official source has said how many classes can be equipped at once, whether skills are tied to their parent class, or whether anything is permanent.
The Japanese and English materials do not use matching words, and it is worth stating the pairs once.
Japanese | English as published | Note |
|---|---|---|
ジョブ | Class | Japanese uses Job where English-language material uses Class |
スキル | Skill, and Ability in some English copy | English feature copy renders the pair as Classes and Abilities; the official site's English-facing term for the system is Class System |
叡智継承 | Inheriting abilities that transcend eras | Literally the inheritance of wisdom; the romanization eichi keishō is ours |
This wiki uses Class and Skill in body text and notes the Japanese pair where it helps.
The one concrete combat use of the system disclosed so far comes from the official developer conversation video rather than from any store listing. In it, changing class to match an enemy's weakness is described as one of the countermeasures available to the player, alongside defending. That connects the growth system directly to the weakness-and-Break loop covered in Battle System.
Story-side, the same inheritance idea extends to the party. Official feature copy says the player teams up with ancestors and descendants across time and can empower allies with the abilities of their ancestors, which puts inheritance on both the protagonist's build and the party's composition. See Time Travel for that structure.
This is the largest gap in the pre-release picture of the game, and it is worth being blunt about it. As of 15 September 2026, none of the following exists in any official source.
Any list of classes, or even a count of how many there are.
Any list of skills, any skill descriptions, or any skill costs.
Any stat values. Bonus-item text references HP (体力), MP (精神), attack (攻撃力), defence (防御力), speed (速度) and EXP (経験値), but no numbers attach to them.
Any description of levelling, experience curves, mastery, or how many classes can be held or equipped at once.
Any equipment system detail, beyond confirmation that equipment is manufactured and that a material called アニマイト is required to manufacture it.
One narrow exception applies to item names. The Japanese official site lists pre-order bonuses per retailer, and those bonus listings name real in-game items: six ancient swords (疾風の古剣, 冥想の古剣, 相克の古剣, 活力の古剣, 開戦の古剣 and 重圧の古剣), six amulets (探求の護符, 芳香の護符, 不退の護符, 安息の護符, 盟約の護符 and 猛進の護符), small restorative drops of vitality and spirit, small amber of life, and a quantity of アニマイト. Those are the only in-game item names published anywhere as of 15 September 2026. The bonus content is stated to unlock as the story progresses and may be sold separately at a later date. See Editions and Pricing.
The game is unreleased and there are no player guides, tier lists or build recommendations in existence. Anything presenting itself as one is not sourced from the game. When the publisher opens this system up, the tables belong here.
