World Bosses

World Bosses are the named open-world encounters scattered across the Continent of Orbis. They sit outside the dungeon and raid structure: there is no instance to enter and no lobby to open, so a World Boss is simply standing in the world waiting to be found. Defeating one awards Mercenary Corps experience and a fixed material drop, and the boss reappears on a timer so the fight can be farmed.

Nine World Bosses ship in the launch build. Hound13's first balance patch grouped them into three reward tiers, which is the clearest published statement of their relative difficulty. Every boss in a tier pays the same.
Tier | World Boss | Mercenary Corps EXP | Reward |
|---|---|---|---|
1 | Horg the Roamer | 800 | Adventurer's Emblem x35 |
1 | Andras the Cave Predator | 800 | Adventurer's Emblem x35 |
1 | Pakirus the Specter of Thirst | 800 | Adventurer's Emblem x35 |
2 | Scraping Brack | 1,200 | Chronograph of Ages x3 |
2 | Karon the Tyrant | 1,200 | Chronograph of Ages x3 |
2 | Hagen the Dark Necromancer | 1,200 | Chronograph of Ages x3 |
3 | Hungry Eye Octavia | 1,600 | Fragment of Memory x50 |
3 | Lavanis Feather of Burning Ashes | 1,600 | Fragment of Memory x50 |
3 | Barpedin the Crushing Darkness | 1,600 | Fragment of Memory x50 |
Those figures are the post-patch values. Patch 1.0.4 on July 30, 2026 raised experience and added the material rewards across all nine at once, as part of the first deliberate economy pass. See Update History for the full patch record.
World Bosses respawn two hours after being defeated. The timer was set in patch 1.0.9 on August 13, 2026, which applied the same two-hour window to Sudden Mission monsters, giving both a predictable farming rhythm. Before that, an early launch bug stopped World Bosses and Sudden Missions from resetting at all until patch 1.0.3 corrected it on July 25.

Sudden Missions are the World Boss system's smaller sibling: one-off encounters that appear in the world and are tracked through the Merc Guide rather than the quest log. Completing one awards sixty Fragments of Sacred Light, a figure also set by patch 1.0.4. Undiscarded Erat is one of the named Sudden Mission targets; a launch-window fault let its mission repeat after the boss was defeated and the client reconnected, and left the clear unmarked in the Merc Guide, both fixed in 1.0.7.
Sudden Mission discovery records were among the things wiped by the launch-day progress reset applied to players who had been in the pre-launch build, so those encounters had to be found again from scratch.
The three reward materials feed different parts of the growth chain rather than a single track, which is why the tiers pay in different currencies rather than in scaling amounts of one. Mercenary Corps experience is the shared component: it advances the rank that governs adventure difficulty, which rises automatically as the player climbs and can be lowered manually. Hound13 has said World Boss rewards are being expanded further, and the August 10 broadcast listed material yields as an ongoing target rather than a finished pass.
