Ornette
May 15, 2026 at 05:49 PM
Initial version: Saintess of the Dawn (Organa Order), scythe, Electrocution and Knockdown
Ornette is a playable Hero in DragonSword: Awakening and the seventh Hero to be individually introduced by Hound13 in the pre-launch wave. She is the Saintess of the Dawn of the Organa Order, the same religious-judicial faction that fields the Heretic Inquisitor Theresia. Ornette fights with a scythe and a hybrid sacred-magic and action style that pairs the Electrocution Status Ailment with a Knockdown follow-up.

Ornette's kit blends sacred-magic effects with direct scythe-range melee. In the language of the wider three-step combo, her job is to stack Electrocution on the target during the Apply step, ride that ailment through her Active Skills during the Extend step, and either close with her own Signal Skill or tag out so an ally can land a finisher off the primed shock window. Knockdown rounds the kit out as a secondary, letting her flatten a target whose Electrocution stack has run its course.
Hound13's own description of Ornette frames her as a hybrid practitioner. She channels what the studio calls sacred power through her weapon while the scythe itself handles the physical side of the exchange. The exact reach of the weapon, the breakdown of magical versus melee inputs, and her specific Active Skill names have not been broken out beyond the trailer reveal yet.
Step | What Ornette Does |
|---|---|
Apply | Electrocution stacks go on the target through basic scythe sweeps and ailment-tagged openers. |
Extend | Active Skills keep the shock window alive while sacred-magic hits chain underneath. |
Finish | A Signal Skill from Ornette or from a teammate tagged in through Switching Signals lands while the target is still primed, with Knockdown available to flatten the target as the chain ends. |
Saintess of the Dawn is the role Ornette holds inside the Organa Order. Hound13 has framed her as the most benevolent and selfless at heart of the Order, while at the same time being capable of rendering cold judgment upon heretics who stand against the institution. Whether the Saintess of the Dawn is a singular titled office held by Ornette alone, or a class of saintly clerics inside the Order, has not been spelled out in pre-launch material. The role clearly sits at a different tier from the ten Heretic Inquisitors who carry execution authority, with Theresia as the only Inquisitor named so far.
Ornette is the seventh of the nineteen playable Heroes to be individually revealed in the run-up to the July 2026 launch. As of mid-May 2026, the publicly named cast also includes:
- the protagonist, with greatsword and the Stun and Knockdown ailments.
Johnny - the mercenary band leader-figure who travels with Lute. Not yet detailed mechanically.
Castella - the Elf assault vanguard with Break and Stun.
- the firepower specialist of Lute's mercenary band, with Fire and Airborne.
- the Spiritist of the
who carries Stun with fire flavour.
- the Heretic Inquisitor of the
, who carries Bleed and Stun.
Ornette is the second confirmed Hero affiliated with the Organa Order after Theresia, and the first Hero publicly tied to the Electrocution Status Ailment. The wider Status Ailments page tracks how her shock window overlaps with other Heroes who carry Stun or Knockdown.
Whether Electrocution is a fully distinct Status Ailment category from Stun, or whether it shares the same underlying lock mechanic with a sacred-magic visual coat.
