Aria

Initial Aria article (2026-05-07). Sourced from the Lute & Castella & Aria Tag Combo Preview: bomb-using firepower specialist, Fire and Airborne ailments, member of Johnny's mercenary band.
Aria is a playable Hero in DragonSword: Awakening and one of the founding members of the mercenary band that Lute falls in with at the start of the main story. She is the band's firepower specialist, deploying bombs to stack the Fire and Airborne Status Ailments while her teammates handle frontline pressure.

Faction | Mercenary band (Johnny's group) |
Travelling with | Lute, Johnny, and Castella |

First revealed | Lute & Castella & Aria Tag Combo Preview, 2026 |
Hound13's public framing of the band positions Aria as the loud, fire-loving member of a small group built around different combat layers. In the Tag Combo Preview, the band's structured switch goes assault vanguard Castella, then Lute with Stun and Knockdown, then Aria stacking Fire and Airborne with her bombs, and finally back to Castella to keep the chain rolling. Her place in the rotation is the firepower beat: setting the field on fire and lifting enemies off the ground so other Heroes can land their finishers cleanly.
Aria's kit centres on bombs. Mechanically that translates into two simultaneous Status Ailments: Fire damage that ticks while the target is alight, and Airborne, which lifts targets off the ground and into the kind of aerial juggle window the rest of the combat system is built around.
Because every bomb she places is doing two jobs at once, Aria's role in a combo is unusual. Most Heroes apply a single ailment and then rely on others to layer on top; Aria layers her own. Once Fire is ticking and Airborne has popped the target up, she can either push her own Active Skills further, or hand off to a teammate via Switching Signals to land a Signal Skill while the target is still in the air.
Combo Step | Aria's Tools | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
Apply | Bombs, ranged ordnance | Fire and Airborne stack on the target simultaneously. |
Extend | Active Skills while Fire continues to tick | Combo window stays open; airborne target is locked into the juggle. |
Finish | Signal Skill from Aria or a teammate via Switching Signals | Biggest single-hit payoff against an airborne, burning target. |
Aria is one of the nineteen playable Heroes available from the start under the Buy-to-Play Model of the Steam release. She is unlocked through story progression and in-game activities rather than through any extra purchase.
Compared with the other named members of her own mercenary band, Aria sits at the ranged-pressure end of the line:
Hero | Role in the Band | Status Ailments | Combat Niche |
|---|---|---|---|
Castella | Assault vanguard | Break, Stun | Frontline frame-shaker. |
Greatsword all-rounder | Stun, Knockdown | Versatile melee with Goddess-power healing. | |
Aria | Firepower specialist | Fire, Airborne | Ranged bomber, juggle setup. |
The shape of Aria's personal arc inside the main story has not been spelled out in pre-launch material. What is confirmed is that she is part of the mercenary band that Lute falls in with on the road to Orbis, alongside Johnny and Castella, and that the band itself is one of the threads through which the modern cast is drawn into the reawakened Dragon threat.
