Neverness to Everness is built on Unreal Engine 5, Epic Games' latest game engine. This is a major technical upgrade fromHotta Studio's previous title Tower of Fantasy, which used Unreal Engine 4. The jump to UE5 enables more advanced lighting, rendering, and real-time environmental effects.
The PC version supports full ray tracing and path tracing. Ray-traced lighting, shadows, and reflections provide physically accurate visual effects. Reflections on wet streets, glass surfaces, and vehicle bodies react to light sources dynamically, and shadows shift naturally with the game's day-night cycle.
The game supports NVIDIA DLSS 4 with Multi-Frame Generation on compatible GPUs. This AI-based upscaling technology generates additional frames to maintain smooth performance without proportional GPU load increases. Multi-Frame Generation is particularly valuable during graphically intensive sequences like the game's real-time supernatural environmental transitions, where rendering demands spike temporarily.
The engine powers the dynamic weather system with physically-based rendering (PBR) techniques. Snow uses real-time PBR materials with subsurface scattering, giving individual snowflakes a translucent appearance as light passes through them. Rain produces accurate reflections on surfaces and affects vehicle handling.
One of the most technically demanding features is the game's supernatural environmental transition system. When anomaly events occur, the surrounding environment seamlessly morphs from its normal state into a darker, more surreal version in real time. This happens without loading screens, cuts, or transitions. The normal cityscape of Hethereau and its twisted supernatural counterpart share the same world space, with the engine handling the visual transformation on the fly.
The game supports PC (Windows), PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, iOS, and Android with cross-progression across all platforms. The engine scales its visual fidelity based on the target platform, with the PC version offering the most advanced rendering features (ray tracing, DLSS 4) while mobile versions optimize for battery life and thermal management.
