Legendary Equipment
September 23, 2026 at 07:30 AM
Corrected the count of legendary items from Xanthe's court activities
Legendary is the top rarity tier for equipment in The Blood of Dawnwalker, shown in orange above blue and purple. Legendary pieces are rarely random drops. Nearly all of them are fixed rewards from a quest, a boss or a hidden chest, and a few are sold by particular merchants. Filling every equipment slot with legendary items carries the hidden achievement Gear of the Gods. This page lists the pieces documented in walkthroughs of the shipped game as of September 2026; see Equipment and Crafting for how rarity, weapon arts and upgrades work.
Details that only one walkthrough gives are marked as reported, and where walkthroughs print an item's name two ways, both are noted.
One database of the game's item data counts 13 legendary weapons among 186 in total. The ones with documented locations are below.
Sword | Type | How to Get It |
|---|---|---|
Durandal | Longsword | The Cursed Chasm, in the wreckage at the bottom of the ravine by the broken bridge in the Briar Sloughs. The game's own item text says it is named after Roland's sword, or may be the real thing. |
Imbued Sword of St. Mihai | Greatsword | The end of the Forge It Anew chain: the Broken Sword of St. Mihai from A Monk and a Saint, three shards, reforging by the uriashi blacksmith and a tempering ritual. Unlocks the achievement Arbiter's Blade. See Saint Mihai. |
Gladius | Shortsword | A hidden lair above the boss cave in The Beast of Balaur, on Mount Balaur (reported). The game's item text calls it an ancient Roman soldier's weapon. |
The Vrakhir | Greatsword | A corpse in the crypt explored during Lacra's The Night of Horrors (reported). Built for night fighting, with bonus damage against mortals and extra vampiric health. |
The Kingslayer | Not stated | Buried treasure west of Svartrau, marked by the Riverbank bandits' treasure map. One guide adds that the silver trader in Svartrau sells it for just under 5,000 denarii. |
The Hand of Fate | Shortsword | A stone chest in the ruins explored during A Hero's End, opened with a key from the cathedral treasury. Walkthroughs also report it for sale from the uriashi hermit. |
The Prizewinner | Not stated | Sold by the uriashi hermit once A Bulwark Against Darkness or Forge It Anew has sent Coen there. One guide says a Witchcraft perk, Bewitching Influence, is needed before it goes on sale. |
The Purge | Not stated | Sold by the silver trader in Svartrau, and reported in the uriashi hermit's stock as well. |
Erkas's Sword | Longsword | Listed as legendary in the game's own item data, which calls it an ancient vrakhir-slayer's weapon. Where it is found is not documented as of September 2026. |
Piece | Slot | How to Get It |
|---|---|---|
Ambrus's Cuirass | Chest | From Ambrus's body after The Gilded Gauntlet. |
Isbrand's Plate | Chest | A chest in Isbrand's chamber during Hive and Seek, easy to miss before leaving. |
Isbrand's Greaves | Legs | A chest in a kobold nest in the hills near the Hive and Seek cave. |
Coat of Darkened Scales | Chest | A chest upstairs in the house during the sanzhana quest Tiny Dancer, with a second copy from the Rockfalls treasure map at Split Rock (reported). |
Runic chestpiece | Chest | Given automatically during Anca's Stronger Than Achilles. Painted runes rather than armour, trading protection for magical resistance, witchcraft damage and lifesteal. Printed as Runic Enchantment in one walkthrough and Runic Enhancement in another. |
Ancient Hero's Armour | Chest | The coffin at the end of the ruins in A Hero's End. |
Ancient Greaves | Legs | Stronger Than Achilles, if Coen and Anca destroy the Font of Life. One guide counts them as part of an Ancient Hero's set. |
Ancient Hero's Vambraces | Bracers | A reward from one of Xanthe's court activities. Walkthroughs name different activities, so the exact source is unsettled. |
Ancient Footwear | Boots | A locked chest in the ruins of the Xanthe court activity Xanthe's Excavations: Bloodied Dagger, opened with a ritual dagger and Compel Soul (reported). |
Vrakhiric Bracers | Bracers | A chest in Bakir's treasury after The Lunar Game. |
Enhanced Arbiter set | Chest, legs, boots and bracers | Forged by the uriashi blacksmith at the end of A Bulwark Against Darkness from four components gathered around the valley. Completing and upgrading it unlocks Arbiter's Regalia. |
One guide also lists Bakir's own armour, taken from his body after The Lunar Game, and a pair of boots from Xanthe's daughter's room after The Cycle of Love; other walkthroughs do not list either as legendary.
Coen wears one amulet and two rings at a time, according to one guide, so these slots are the tightest part of a build.
Item | Type | How to Get It |
|---|---|---|
Ring of Quick Strikes | Ring | The Highland Grave, behind a locked door in the Rockfalls ruins, opened with a key from a skeleton by a broken shrine. |
Astrologer's Ring | Ring | After Home Sweet Home at the Silts Tower, from the enemy that attacks once Coen escapes the dream. |
Ring of the Night | Ring | The Xanthe court activity Xanthe's Transports: Past Glory. |
Ring of Focus | Ring | A chest in the south-east corner of Parlita according to one walkthrough; another found it in the silver trader's stock. |
Knightly Ring | Ring | The Tantari Woods bandits' treasure map (reported). |
Mindbrace Amulet | Amulet | The Xanthe court activity Xanthe's Excavations: Malevolent Presence. |
The Relic of St. Dasius | Amulet | A lantern-locked room in Xanthe's manor during The Cycle of Love. |
Vicho's Cross | Amulet | Vicho's house, after A Study in Crimson and The Good Samaritan, once Coen has confronted Vicho. |
Fear of the Wild | Amulet | Tied to the sanzhani: one walkthrough finds it in a chest during Burrow Sorrows, another in the stock of the teeth trader opened by Pearly and Precious, where it is printed Fear of the Wilds. |
The Shredder | Amulet | A chest at a soldier picket that only appears once infamy reaches its second level (reported). |
Arbiter's Medallion | Amulet | A cave behind a waterfall near the Great Bridge, found by piecing together notes from hidden caches in Svartrau (reported). |
A handful of sources account for most of the list. Each boyar drops or guards at least one piece, and Xanthe's court activities hand out several more (four or five, depending on whether Home Sweet Home is counted). Anca's questline pays out a chestpiece and, depending on the Font choice, a pair of greaves. Bandit treasure maps hide several, and two merchants sell legendary gear outright: the silver trader in Svartrau and the hermit of the Uriashi, who also forges the two Arbiter pieces. A found legendary does not stay ahead of Coen on its own, though. Blacksmiths upgrade weapons to keep pace with his level, which matters most for pieces picked up early.
Two achievements are tied to named legendary gear: Arbiter's Blade for restoring St Mihai's sword, and Arbiter's Regalia for gathering and fully upgrading the Arbiter armour. See Achievements and Bosses.
