The Melted Ambition is a one-handed weapon in Crimson Desert that stands out from the rest of the one-handed weapons roster thanks to its combination of high attack power, a speed bonus, and a built-in special ability. At 17 attack power with Attack Speed Lv. 2, it swings faster than any other blunt one-handed weapon while also hitting harder than most of them. The attached Groundsurge ability gives it a unique combat identity that separates it from standard hammers and maces.

The weapon's name and refinement ceiling of 12 levels suggest it is a rarer find than the mass-produced Balton and Bekker series. Melted Ambition rewards players who invest in refining it, as it scales well into the mid and late game.

The Attack Speed Lv. 2 bonus is significant. Most blunt weapons top out at Lv. 1 or have no speed bonus at all. Combined with 17 base attack, Melted Ambition delivers damage output that competes with heavier two-handed options while keeping the mobility advantages of a one-handed setup.

Groundsurge is the weapon's signature ability, activated by pressing R1 + R2 simultaneously. The move sends a shockwave through the ground in front of the player, dealing area damage and staggering enemies caught in its path. It is useful for crowd control situations where multiple enemies are closing in from the same direction, and it can also interrupt boss attack patterns if timed correctly.
The ability has a brief wind-up animation, so committing to Groundsurge at the wrong moment leaves you vulnerable. The best times to use it are after dodging an enemy attack (when they are locked in recovery frames) or when approaching a group that has not yet noticed you.
Melted Ambition is obtained as a reward for defeating Myurdin during the Decisive Battle main quest in Chapter 7. After the cutscene following the boss fight, you receive the weapon when you take control of Oongka. Since it is a story reward, the weapon cannot be missed as long as you progress through the main questline.
Melted Ambition has 12 refinement levels, exceeding the 10-level cap found on most weapons. This means it reaches a higher maximum attack power than most one-handed weapons when fully upgraded. The highest refinement levels require rare materials and Abyss Artifactsbut the investment pays off with one of the highest damage ceilings in the one-handed category.
Melted Ambition is delivered as a guaranteed story reward in Chapter 7. The full route:
Chapter: Chapter 7 (Homecoming arc).
Quest: Decisive Battle, reached through the Counterattack questline.
Boss: Myodin (rendered as Myurdin in some menus). Defeat triggers the post-fight cutscene.
Delivery: After the cutscene resolves and control returns to Oongka, Melted Ambition is already in the weapon inventory. No vendor purchase or smithy crafting step is required.
Because the Decisive Battle is a fixed main-story beat, the weapon cannot be missed by any player who completes Chapter 7. Killing Myodin is the prerequisite, and the cutscene delivery is automatic.
Melted Ambition is one of the few weapons in Crimson Desert that arrives in the player's inventory with an Abyss Gear already installed in one of its weapon sockets. The pre-socketed gear is Ground Surge, an offensive Abyss Core that triggers ground spikes during heavy weapon strikes for staggered area damage.
The full pre-installed loadout shipped with the weapon:
Slot | Notes | |
|---|---|---|
Weapon Socket 1 | Pre-installed at pickup. Triggers ground spikes during R1 plus R2 spinning slash attacks. | |
Weapon Socket 2 | Open | Empty at pickup. Players can socket any compatible Abyss Gear here. |
Weapon Socket 3 | Open | Empty at pickup. Suitable for stacking a second offensive gear or a defensive utility gear. |
Players who prefer to keep Melted Ambition as their primary one-handed weapon can leave Ground Surge in place; the weapon's high attack power, Attack Speed Lv. 2 bonus, and 12 refinement levels make it competitive against most other one-handed options. Players who want Ground Surge on a different weapon (for example, a Turning Slash build that uses a faster sword) can extract the Abyss Gear at any Witch and re-embed it into a different weapon with an open Abyss Gear slot.
Extraction does not destroy the Abyss Gear, and Melted Ambition itself remains intact after extraction (it simply loses Ground Surge from its first weapon socket). Both the weapon and the extracted gear can be re-equipped independently afterward. See Witch Workshops for the extraction interface and Imbue Element for the broader element-swap workflow.
Groundsurge is best used as a punish tool after dodging, not as an opener. The wind-up leaves you exposed if the enemy is still mid-swing
The Lv. 2 speed bonus means Melted Ambition can chain combos almost as quickly as a sword. Play aggressively and take advantage of the faster attack recovery
With 12 refinement levels, prioritize upgrading this weapon over replacements. It remains competitive deep into the game
Slot Abyss Gear that enhances attack speed or adds on-hit effects. The fast swing rate means proc-based bonuses trigger more often than they would on slower weapons
Melted Ambition's high sell price (14.32 Silver) means selling it generates meaningful income. Only sell if you have found a clear replacement
