Lord of the Forgotten Castle is a faction quest for the Pailune Militia, part of the Crossroads of Succession quest line. The quest sends Kliff to the Icemoor Castle Ruins in the far north of the Pailune region, where a powerful foe has taken up residence. The quest culminates in a challenging boss fight against Saigord the Staglord.

Defeat Saigord the Staglord
The Icemoor Castle Ruins are located in a cold region that drains stamina regeneration. Before heading north, equip a Cloak and prepare food that provides Ice Resistance. You need at least Level 5 Ice Resistance to become immune to the cold debuff during the fight. Without it, your stamina recovery is severely reduced, making the boss encounter much harder.
Saigord the Staglord wields a large shield and sword combination. He is a powerful melee combatant with several dangerous attack patterns.

Use Force Palm to stagger and cancel most of Staglord's combos. This is the most effective tactic throughout the fight.
Learn his Turning Slash Expertise skill using the Watch and Learn mechanic during the fight. Once learned, this skill deals massive burst damage against him since he is weak to his own attack.
Do not spam Expertise recklessly. Saigord can retaliate even when hit by it. Use it only during clear openings after his combo finishers.
Keep your Spirit (energy) high throughout the fight. Force Palm and dodge-cancels both consume Spirit, and running out leaves you vulnerable.
His red glint attacks are unblockable and will shred your stamina if you try to guard. Always dodge these.

Equip Level 5 Ice Resistance before the fight. The cold environment severely hampers stamina regeneration without it.
Force Palm is your best friend in this fight. Use it to interrupt combos and create counterattack windows.

Bring plenty of Grilled Meat. The fight is long, and the cold environment makes recovery slower.
The Black Bears were defeated and Steinnfell Fortress was secured.
