The Key to the Spire of the Stars is a key item in Crimson Desert. Given to Kliff by an NPC named Grundir, this key is required to enter the Spire of the Stars, a tower located on the hill behind the Scholastone Institute. The Spire contains a series of symbol-based puzzles involving rotating mechanisms and Engraved Stones that must be solved to progress in the story.

The key is given directly by Grundir during the Chapter 4: The Price of Knowledge questline, after Kliff arrives at the Scholastone Institute. The Scholastone Institute is located high up in the mountains of the Hernand region. Upon arriving, Kliff follows the Dean who introduces a tutor named Octavius, who demonstrates a new invention. After completing the initial Scholastone tasks, Grundir provides the key for Spire access.
Use the key on the Spire of the Stars door to enter the tower. Inside, Kliff encounters a series of puzzles:
Engraved Stones: Find three doors to push open (one on the left, two on the right), collect Engraved Stones from inside each, and insert them into the center console.
Rotating Mechanisms: Climb up and hang onto stone pieces to move them downward. Align the stones with the patterns on the wall to activate the lift.
Ascent: Once the mechanisms are aligned, the lift activates and carries Kliff to the top of the Spire.
Completing the Spire of the Stars leads to the Obsession and Madness quest, where Kliff investigates the Abyss further and is teleported to the Sky Islands.
The Key to the Spire of the Stars cannot be sold or discarded.
This key is part of the Chapter 4 questline where Kliff also obtains the Kuku Iron Pot and unlocks the Focused Force Palm skill.
The Key to the Spire of the Stars is tied to the Gate to the Otherworld quest, which is the main quest in Chapter 4: The Price of Knowledge. After Octavius's disappearance, Grundir gives this key to Kliff and mentions a strange phenomenon occurring at the institute's spire.
Upon entering the Spire of the Stars, players discover that the elevator is non-functional. To power it, they must solve a multi-step puzzle:
Use Palm Force (R3 / Right Stick) on three yellow walls in the side rooms to collect Engraved Cubes. One cube is to the left of the elevator; two are to the right.
Insert each Engraved Cube into slots at the base of symbol columns.
Climb up to the symbols and hang on them until they slide into the correct positions. From left to right, the symbols are: infinity, circle, square, triangle. Align them top-to-bottom as depicted on the murals in the side rooms.
Once all symbols are aligned, the elevator activates and allows Kliff to ascend the spire.
This key is quest-specific and cannot open any other door.
The Spire of the Stars is located on the hill directly behind the Scholastone Institute.
Completing the spire puzzle is required to progress the main story in Chapter 4.
