The Grace Manor Iron Door Key is a key item in Crimson Desert obtained during the Traces in the Manor main quest in Chapter 3. It is found on a desk inside the second-floor study of Glenbright Manor (also known as Grace Manor), sitting next to a wounded servant who provides critical story information about the Devil of the Reed Field. The key unlocks a reinforced iron door within the manor, granting access to an otherwise restricted area that contains loot and connects to the investigation trail leading toward the Nonhuman quest.
This key is easy to miss during the conversation with the servant, since most players focus on the dialogue and then head straight into the next quest objective. Taking a moment to check the desk before leaving the study ensures you do not have to backtrack later.

You encounter this key naturally during the Traces in the Manor quest, which takes place in Glenbright Manor in southern Hernand Highlands. After you arrive at the manor gates, a cutscene shows the aftermath of a massacre carried out by the Devil of the Reed Field. You enter the building and are ambushed by five guards. Once you defeat them, the rest of the manor opens up for exploration.
Clear the ground floor. After defeating the five guards in the initial combat encounter, you have free access to the manor. The main staircase is directly ahead in the lobby.
Head upstairs. Climb the main staircase to the second floor. At the top, turn right and follow the hallway.
Enter the study. Go through the door at the end of the hallway to reach the main study room. This is the large room with a desk and a prominent fireplace.
Find the wounded servant. In the left corner of the study, a wounded servant sits slumped against the wall, bleeding. He is the sole survivor of the attack on the manor.
Pick up the key from the desk. The Grace Manor Iron Door Key rests on the desk right next to where the servant is sitting. Pick it up before or after speaking with the servant. There is no prompt that draws attention to it, so you need to look at the desk deliberately.
The servant provides important story context when you speak to him. He explains that the one responsible for the massacre is the Devil of the Reed Field, and he tells you that Naira, Andrew, and Count Grace escaped. This conversation triggers the next phase of the quest and eventually leads into the Nonhuman quest, where Kliff tracks the Devil of the Reed Field.
The Grace Manor Iron Door Key opens a reinforced iron door inside Glenbright Manor. The area beyond this door contains useful loot, including containers with accessories and crafting materials. It also connects to the investigation trail that leads toward the Devil of the Reed Field boss encounter in the Nonhuman quest.
This iron door is separate from the basement entrance, which is accessed through the bookshelf passage opened by the golden dagger fireplace puzzle. The iron door key and the Grace Manor Basement Key open different locked areas within the manor. To fully explore every room in Glenbright Manor, you need both keys plus the two golden daggers.
While you are in the second-floor study collecting the iron door key, there are several other items worth picking up before you leave:
Item | Location | Details |
|---|---|---|
Desk next to the wounded servant | Opens the reinforced iron door in the manor | |
Two-Handed Weapons of the Word, Vol. 1 | Back corner bookshelf, adjacent to the servant | |
Near the window in the study | Hold L1/LB to use the lantern and view the memory |
The study is also where you insert the two golden daggers into the fireplace to open the hidden bookshelf passage to the basement. Make sure to collect the iron door key and the crafting book before heading down, since it is easy to forget about them once you start exploring the basement.
The Grace Manor Iron Door Key is connected to the following quests:
Traces in the Manor (main quest, Chapter 3): You find the key during this quest when exploring Glenbright Manor. The quest is part of The Face Behind the Mask sub-chapter.
Nonhuman (main quest, Chapter 3): After speaking with the servant and collecting the key, the story transitions into the Nonhuman quest, where Kliff tracks the Devil of the Reed Field through the destruction trail.
While the main quest does not strictly require you to use the iron door key to progress, opening the locked area gives you access to additional loot and exploration opportunities. Players who are thorough about clearing every room in the manor before moving on will benefit from having this key.
Glenbright Manor contains multiple locked areas, each requiring a different key or puzzle solution. Below is a summary of all the keys and access methods found in the manor:
Key or Item | Found | Opens |
|---|---|---|
Second-floor study desk | Reinforced iron door in the manor | |
Ground floor, secret room behind jousting painting | Locked door inside the basement (holds Meliara's Lesser Elixir Recipe) | |
Second floor, wall frame near top of stairs | Fireplace slot (with Sapphire dagger, opens bookshelf to basement) | |
Second floor, revealed by chandelier/orb puzzle | Fireplace slot (with Ruby dagger, opens bookshelf to basement) |
Collecting all four of these items and solving every puzzle in the manor grants access to every hidden room, the full basement, and all rewards. For a complete walkthrough of every secret in the manor, see the Glenbright Manor article.
The key sits on the desk right next to the servant. It is easy to miss during the conversation because there is no tooltip or glowing indicator drawing your attention to it. Look at the desk deliberately after the cutscene ends.
You can pick up the key before or after speaking with the servant. The dialogue does not affect key availability.
This key item cannot be sold, discarded, or dropped. It remains in your inventory until used.
Do not confuse this key with the Grace Manor Basement Key, which is found on the ground floor behind a painting. The two keys open different doors in different parts of the manor.
While in the study, also grab the crafting book Two-Handed Weapons of the Word, Vol. 1 from the bookshelf and view the Memory Fragment near the window using your lantern (L1/LB).
If you leave the manor without picking up the key, you can return at any time to collect it.
Pair this key with the Grace Manor Basement Key and the two golden daggers to fully explore every locked area in the manor.
