Forest of Trickery is a request quest in the Duchy of Hernand, part of the Tales from the Corners of Hernand quest series. An isolated patient at the Mountain of Frozen Souls claims she fled from wild beasts and needs help retrieving herbs from the nearby forest. Like Faked Tears, this is a deception. The woman is working with Reed Devil Minions, and following her leads directly into an ambush.

The Isolated Patient tells a story about fleeing from wild animals and needing herbs from a nearby area. She asks Kliff to accompany her for protection. Upon arriving at the supposed herb location, the truth becomes clear: herb-gathering tools are present, but there are no traces of wild animals. The entire scenario was fabricated.
Reed Devil Minions emerge and attack. These enemies are more dangerous than standard Bleed Bandits, with faster attacks and the ability to inflict status effects. The Isolated Patient reveals herself as an accomplice working with the Reed Devil faction.
Focus on eliminating the Reed Devil Minions one at a time. They tend to attack in coordinated groups, so use crowd control abilities or lure them into narrow terrain to reduce the number of simultaneous attackers.
This quest does not provide material rewards. The combat encounter provides experience, and completing the quest progresses the Tales from the Corners of Hernand series.
Reed Devil Minions hit harder than regular Bleed Bandits. Make sure your gear is adequate before following the patient into the forest.
The deception pattern is similar to Faked Tears: a distressed NPC leading you into an ambush. Stay alert when encountering strangers in remote areas.
This quest is part of the same series as Faked Tears, Where the Sweetness Stopped, and Woodcutter in Peril.
Only herb gathering tools remained where the woman led, and no traces of wild animals. When the bandits appeared, it became clear that it was a trap.
