"Find the one responsible for the rift" is an objective during the Obsession and Madness main quest in Chapter 4 of Crimson Desert. The target is marked in the sky above the Abyss, and reaching it requires a traversal technique that the game never teaches you. You need to chain Force Palm strikes in mid-air to catapult yourself between tall pillars. This is one of the most commonly frustrating objectives in the game because the core mechanic is completely hidden.
Stand on the fast travel floor plate directly in front of where you entered the Abyss. This is the launch point for your ascent. If you fall at any point during this section, open your map and press R3 to switch to the sky map view. Use the sky map to fast-travel back to the starting plate.
Before attempting the jumps, make sure your Spirit bar is fully charged. You will need a full Spirit bar to execute three consecutive Force Palm strikes without running out mid-air.
The key mechanic for this entire section is chaining three Force Palm strikes (R3 / Right Stick) consecutively while airborne. Each strike propels you upward and forward. Pressing R3 three times in quick succession while in mid-air launches you high enough to reach the distant pillars.
This is a hidden mechanic. The game does not teach it during any tutorial or tooltip. If you have been stuck on this objective, the triple Force Palm in mid-air is almost certainly the reason.
Stand on the fast travel plate and face the tall pillar visible in the distance.
Jump off the plate.
Immediately press R3 three times consecutively in mid-air. Each Force Palm strike propels you upward and forward.
Aim slightly above the top of the first pillar. You lose a small amount of altitude with each strike, so aiming high compensates for the drop.
Land on the top of the first pillar.
From the top of the first pillar, recharge your Spirit by holding L3 + R3 simultaneously. Wait until the bar is full.
Jump off the first pillar toward the main platform visible in the distance.
Press R3 three more times consecutively in mid-air to chain three Force Palm strikes.
Land on the main platform where the yellow glowing mechanism sits.
On the main platform, locate the yellow glowing mechanism on the floor.
Jump over the mechanism.
While in mid-air above it, use Force Palm (R3) to strike downward and activate the mechanism.
A cutscene plays, completing the objective.
Force Palm consumes Spirit with each use. After chaining three strikes, your Spirit bar will be significantly depleted. If you run out of Spirit mid-air, you will fall.

Recharge between jumps: | Hold L3 + R3 simultaneously to recharge Spirit. Always fill the bar completely before attempting the next jump. |
Start with full Spirit: | Before the first jump, make sure your Spirit bar is at maximum. Partial Spirit means fewer Force Palm strikes, which usually means falling short. |
Spirit upgrades help: | If you have invested skill points into Spirit capacity upgrades, this section becomes noticeably easier because you have more room for error. |
While the triple Force Palm chain is the intended and fastest approach, there are alternatives:
Direct climbing: If you have invested heavily in Stamina upgrades, you can attempt to climb the pillars directly. This is slower but more forgiving since you do not need precise timing.
Double Jump + Force Palm: The Double Jump skill from Kliff's green skill tree provides extra height. Combining Double Jump with Force Palm chains is the most reliable approach if you have access to both abilities.

|---|---|
Not pressing R3 fast enough: | The three Force Palm strikes need to be pressed in quick succession. Delaying between presses causes you to lose altitude and fall short. |
Aiming too low: | Always aim slightly above your target platform. Gravity pulls you down between strikes. |
Attempting with partial Spirit: | If your Spirit is not full, you may only get two Force Palm strikes instead of three, which is not enough to reach the pillars. |
Forgetting the sky map: | If you fall, press R3 on the map screen to switch to sky map view and fast-travel back. Do not try to climb back up from the bottom. |
The triple Force Palm in mid-air is the core technique. Press R3 three times consecutively while airborne.
Aim slightly above your target when chaining Force Palms. You lose a bit of altitude with each strike, and aiming high compensates for this.
If you keep falling, try recharging Spirit fully before each jump attempt. Partial Spirit means fewer Force Palm strikes.
The sky map (press R3 on the map screen) lets you fast-travel back to the starting plate if you fall.
This section becomes much easier with the Double Jump skill. Consider investing a skill point into it before attempting this quest.
