Overview

Embers of Return is a faction quest in the Grounds of the Sunrise chain for The Greymanes in Crimson Desert. This is one of the early quests in the chain, representing the first steps of the Greymanes' efforts to track down and recruit scattered survivors back to the Greymane Camp.

Quest Details

Walkthrough

1. Speak with Marius at the Greymane Camp to receive details about the first group of scattered survivors.

2. Travel to the marked locations to find the former Greymane members.

3. Convince or assist the survivors to return to camp.

4. Escort or direct the survivors back to the Greymane Camp.

Marius at Howling Hill

Embers of Return is issued by Marius at the Howling Hill Greymane Camp. It is the entry quest to the larger Grounds of the Sunrise Greymane faction chain and pairs the early reunion missions with the first Freesword dispatches that bootstrap camp resources.

Dispatch Resource Steps

1. Speak with Marius at Howling Hill and listen to the News of the Comrades cutscene.

2. Travel to the Hills of No Return and reunite with Yann and Otto.

3. Return to camp and hear follow-up intel from Marius.

4. Head to Glenbright Farm and confirm reports of Greymane presence with Ronnie, Brice, and Tranan.

5. Recruit the survivors at the farm and escort them back to camp.

6. Dispatch Freeswords to Timberham Sawmill to gather logs for camp expansion.

7. Dispatch Freeswords to Karin Quarry to gather stones. This step requires Karin Quarry to be liberated first (defeat the Excavatron and complete Estate in Dismay for House Roberts).

Follow-Up Quest

Finishing Embers of Return unlocks Reuniting with Comrades, which extends the Greymane roster further and opens additional camp services.

Tips

• Do this chain early. The moment Embers of Return closes, you can set Freeswords on long-running missions that generate resources while you handle the rest of the map.

• Brice is the most useful early recruit: he unlocks the Cook, Quartermaster, and trading wagon stalls at camp.

• Do not stall in the Karin Quarry step. If the quarry is still hostile, go finish Estate in Dismay first instead of trying to grind through active bandits.
