Expanded with ATAG details, Marni's creations, main story chapters 10/11, vendors, bell tower, Abyss Nexus locations, Sealed Abyss Artifacts, and wikilinks throughout
Delesyia is one of the five regions of Pywel and the technological heart of the continent. Where other regions rely on swords and stone fortifications, Delesyia has pushed into industrial-age innovation powered by the genius of the inventor Marni. Will Powers, Pearl Abyss Director of Marketing and PR, described the region: "They've really adopted technology. So they have mechs, they have flying robots. This is not your typical fantasy. This is almost leaning a little bit more towards steampunk when you're in this region."
That description sets Delesyia apart from everything else in Crimson Desert. The region's inhabitants have developed mechanical constructs, automatons, and arcane technology while the rest of Pywel relies on conventional warfare. Marni's creations populate the entirety of Delesyia, from autonomous patrol robots to the colossal mechanical dragon Golden Star. Players first enter Delesyia during the later chapters of the main story, where the tonal shift from medieval to steampunk is immediately striking.

Delesyia's architecture reflects its industrial character. Unlike Hernand's stone castles or Pailune's rugged camps, Delesyia has a steampunk-influenced design: factories, workshops, mechanical structures, and industrial piping define the skyline. The architecture "looks nothing like the rest of the continent," breaking sharply from the medieval fantasy aesthetic that dominates other regions.
Pearl Abyss designed Pywel's regions to reflect real-world variety, where some nations are far more technologically advanced than their neighbors. Delesyia represents that forward edge. Its streets feature sophisticated architecture alongside bustling markets filled with exotic goods from distant lands. The region covers territory in the southeastern portion of Pywel, stretching from the coastal areas around Dewhaven in the southwest to the Ironflame Orcs' bastion of Gorthak in the northwest near the Demeniss border.
Delesyia is the wealthiest region in Pywel, owing to its strategically advantageous location as a trade crossroads. Merchants and travelers from across the world converge in Delesyia's markets, making it a hub of commerce and culture. The markets feature exotic merchandise not found elsewhere on the continent.
This wealth has practical implications for players. Delesyia's tailors and equipment vendors stock different inventory than shops in other regions. Players visiting Delesyia can access equipment lines unavailable in Hernand or Demeniss. The region's economic power also means higher-quality crafting materials may be available through its merchants, though prices reflect the region's prosperity.
Delesyia's capital city houses a full complement of vendors, including weapon and armor merchants, provisioners, and specialty shops. Wandering Street Vendors also run stalls at landmarks across the region, carrying rotating stock of consumables and common goods.
The Delesyia Contribution Shop is located in a building near the main hall of Delesyia Castle. Players must wear a Visione to be allowed on the castle grounds. The Contribution Shop sells exclusive gear and items that can only be purchased with Contribution Points earned through completing quests and helping the region's inhabitants.
Alongside legitimate commerce, Delesyia's narrow alleyways harbor dangerous guilds of thieves and assassins. The region's wealth attracts criminal organizations operating in the shadows behind the markets. Players will encounter these underworld elements through the rumor system and faction-related questlines. Listening to rumors in Delesyia's settlements can uncover hidden quests connected to the criminal underworld, leading to better loot and unique encounters.
Pearl Abyss describes Delesyia as being "at the forefront of science and technology" within Pywel. The region has produced some of the continent's most advanced constructs, blending ancient alchemy with cutting-edge engineering. The inventor Marni is the driving force behind much of this innovation, having created mechanical beings, automatons, robots, rockets, and mechanical tanks that populate the region.
The most prominent piece of technology in Delesyia is the ATAG (All-Terrain Armored Gear), a pilotable combat mech. Gameplay footage shows Kliff piloting the ATAG through battlefields, stomping enemies and unleashing explosive ordnance. The ATAG becomes available during Chapter 10: Counterattack, roughly 50 to 60 hours into the main story, when the player must defend the Ironflame Orcs' bastion of Gorthak against mechanized creatures.
The base ATAG is equipped with a rapid-fire machine gun, a wide-area blast cannon, an EMP discharge, and a ramming maneuver that flattens enemies. Later upgrades add lasers, pincers, heavy plating, rocket fists, missile launchers, flamethrowers, and even a jetpack. Multiple ATAG variants exist, each with different loadouts suited to different combat scenarios.
ATAG Component | Function |
|---|---|
Machine Gun | Rapid-fire primary weapon for sustained damage |
Blast Cannon | Wide-area explosive attack effective against groups |
EMP Discharge | Disables nearby mechanical enemies temporarily |
Ram | Charge forward to flatten enemies in the mech's path |
Upgrades | Lasers, pincers, heavy plating, rocket fists, missile launchers, flamethrowers, jetpack |
Flying battle robots designed by Marni appear in combat encounters throughout Delesyia. These autonomous machines patrol the skies and attack intruders. GamingBolt noted "what seems to be a small fleet of mecha pterodactyls" among the game's boss encounters. Fighting mechanical enemies in Delesyia may require different tactics compared to organic foes, such as EMP-style disruptions to stagger them.
The inventor Marni is described as a genius whose ambitions outstripped any sense of restraint. Marni's creations range from small patrol automatons to colossal mechanical dragons. The line between science and sorcery is deliberately ambiguous in Delesyia; while the constructs appear mechanical, some may draw on Abyss energy in ways that pure engineering alone cannot explain.
Notable creations attributed to Marni include the ATAG combat mech, the Golden Star mechanical dragon, the Clockwork Insect (a mechanical boss with unique weak-point mechanics), and Marni's Excavatron (a quarrying machine encountered as a boss fight). Marni also created H.A.L.L., an artificial intelligence that commands a flying fortress.
Technology | Function | Origin |
|---|---|---|
Pilotable war mech: machine gun, blast cannon, EMP, ram | Marni / Ironflame Orcs | |
Flying Battle Robots | Autonomous aerial combatants patrolling Delesyia's skies | Marni's engineering |
Mechanical boss with weak-point mechanics | Marni's engineering | |
Colossal mechanical dragon boss | Marni's engineering | |

H.A.L.L. | Artificial intelligence commanding a flying fortress | Marni (consciousness clone) |
Each region in Pywel functions as its own country with its own geopolitics. Delesyia's governing body has invested heavily in mechanical innovation over traditional military might. The technological gap between Delesyia and the rest of Pywel is not just visual; it creates political friction. Regions that rely on swords and fortifications may view Delesyia's machines as either the future or a threat.
The Ironflame Orcs control the territory around Gorthak in northwestern Delesyia and play a central role in Chapter 10's main story. The capital city sits in Marnian territory. Players will encounter faction quests that explore the region's political divides. The game features over 100 distinct factions across Pywel, and aligning with Delesyia's local powers unlocks reputation, vendor access, and resource nodes. Hostile faction relationships mean guards and machines may attack on sight.
Will Powers described the regions in a narrative progression: Hernand (starting area with medieval castles), Demeniss (political and military center), Delesyia (technology), and the Crimson Desert (arid outlaw territory). Players progressively move through these regions, placing Delesyia fourth in the sequence. By the time you reach Delesyia, you have already experienced the medieval and political foundations of Pywel, which makes the technological jump feel earned.
Region | Theme | Contrast with Delesyia |
|---|---|---|
Medieval castles, rivers, mountains | Traditional stone architecture vs. steampunk | |
Frozen north, Viking-style settlements | Rugged survival vs. industrial wealth | |
Political capital, military forts | Military tradition vs. technological innovation | |
Arid sands, lawless territory | Lawless frontier vs. organized commerce |
Like all of Pywel, Delesyia is part of the seamless open world with no loading screens between regions. Players can walk into Delesyia at any time, but if their faction reputation with the local powers is hostile, guards and machines may attack on sight. Story progression or building faction relationships opens the region up.
Delesyia's bell is located in the capital city in Marnian territory. The bell tower sits in the northern part of town, just south across the river from Delesyia Castle. The tower is easy to spot because it is covered in clockwork machinery and has a spinning device on top. Ringing the bell clears the fog of war from Delesyia's section of the world map, revealing all undiscovered locations in the region.
Multiple Abyss Nexus fast travel points are scattered across Delesyia. Key nodes include three Abyss Nexus points in the Gorthak area, one outside Dewhaven Keep, and one near Mount Benus. Players activate these by standing on round floor plates that glow blue when detected with the sword's Guiding Light ability (press L1+R1 on PlayStation, LB+RB on Xbox, or CTRL + Left Click on PC).
Sealed Abyss Artifacts can be found along roads in the Delesyia region. These collectibles are not marked on the main map but appear as purple icons on the minimap when you are nearby. Each artifact is tied to a specific Challenge that requires completing a task such as defeating enemies with a particular weapon type or traveling a set distance on horseback. Completing these challenges rewards Abyss Artifacts (skill points), Faded Abyss Artifacts (skill reset currency), and Abyss Gears (weapon and armor mods).
See Exploration and Traversal for general traversal mechanics, Pywel for the continent overview, and Regions of Pywel for all five regions.
Delesyia is organized around its industrial centers, each contributing to the region's technological output. The region is divided into several sub-areas connected by Abyss Nexus fast travel points.
Location | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
Delesyia Capital | City | The main urban hub of Delesyia in Marnian territory, featuring the region's markets, vendors, Contribution Shop, and bell tower. This is where players first experience the steampunk architecture and bustling trade. Delesyia Castle sits at the northern edge of town. |
Gorthak | Research Institute / Stronghold | The bastion of the Ironflame Orcs in northwestern Delesyia near the Demeniss border. Houses one of the region's three research institutes with its own technology tree. Three Abyss Nexus fast travel points serve the area. Central to Chapter 10's main story. |
Dewhaven Keep | Located in southwestern Delesyia. Contains a research institute with its own research tree and a lead researcher who offers project quests. An Abyss Nexus sits just outside the keep. | |
Delesyian Institute | The third research institute, located in the regional capital inside a large building near the entrance gate. Offers its own set of research projects. | |
Mount Benus | Landmark | A prominent geographic feature in southern Delesyia. An Abyss Nexus fast travel point is located nearby, making it a convenient waypoint for traveling between the southern and central parts of the region. |
Marni's Masterium | Story Location | The site where players confront the Golden Star mechanical dragon boss during Chapter 11. Features EMP pylon mechanics and transitions into an aerial pursuit on dragonback. |
Delesyia houses three research institutes, making it the most research-dense region in the game. Each institute has its own research tree that players can progress through. Research projects completed at these institutes unlock new crafting recipes, equipment upgrades, and technology-related abilities.
The three institutes are distributed across the region: Gorthak Ironworks in the northwest near the Demeniss border, the Delesyian Institute in the regional capital near the entrance gate, and Dewhaven Keep in the southwest. Each institute has a lead researcher who provides context for the research projects and connects them to the broader narrative of Delesyia's scientific ambitions.
Delesyia features prominently in the later chapters of the main story. By the time Kliff reaches the region, the stakes have escalated significantly and the technological capabilities of Delesyia become central to the narrative.
Chapter 10 brings Kliff to Delesyia to secure advanced weaponry for the fight ahead. The chapter is divided into two main arcs: Secret Weapon (5 quests) and Greater Firepower (4 quests). Kliff visits the Gate of War, meets the Master of the Ironworks to forge powerful equipment, and ultimately pilots the ATAG combat mech to defend Gorthak against mechanized attackers.
Boss encounters in this chapter include the Clockwork Insect, a mechanical boss with unique weak-point mechanics, and the Frozen Hearted Predator, a creature boss from an eastern invasion force. Players should use the Ironworks to upgrade their best weapons to maximum refinement level before proceeding, as the bosses in Chapters 11 and 12 are significantly harder.
Chapter 11 takes Kliff deeper into Delesyia and the City of Steel, a heavily fortified location where the line between truth and illusion begins to blur. The chapter includes the Brave New World arc (5 quests) and the Foreboding Shadow arc (3 quests).
The climax of the chapter is the confrontation with Golden Star, a colossal mechanical dragon boss at Marni's Masterium. This multi-phase fight features EMP pylon mechanics. The boss uses devastating abilities including a flame tornado and bombard barrage. Players can use EMP bullets to deal damage and throw spears when Golden Star is immobile. After depleting the boss's health, Blackstar swoops in to aid the player, transitioning the fight into an aerial pursuit on dragonback.
Delesyia is the fourth of five regions that players visit in the story's natural progression through Pywel. By the time Kliff reaches Delesyia, the stakes have escalated significantly. The region's advanced technology, including the pilotable ATAG combat mech, introduces new gameplay mechanics that were not available in earlier regions like Hernand or Pailune.
The technological gap between regions is striking. While Hernand relies on medieval swords and castles, Delesyia fields mechs armed with machine guns, rockets, and EMP pulses. Pearl Abyss designed this contrast intentionally. As Will Powers, Director of Marketing and PR at Pearl Abyss, explained: the variety reflects the real world, where some nations are far more technologically advanced than their neighbors. Delesyia is the continent's forward edge, and arriving there for the first time is a significant tonal shift in the game's experience.
