Rapport is the game's affinity system, and it runs on two separate tracks. One measures Emma's bond with Koo and pays out in combat capability. The other measures her relationship with Kagura and pays out in food. They do not advance the same way. Kagura's track is a base-side one, raised on the walking vessel between expeditions. Koo's runs partly in the field: eating from the Battle Pack mid-expedition raises it, and handing him a treat out there raises it faster than anything else on the list.
Rapport With Koo
How to Raise It | Detail |
|---|---|
Pet Koo | Petting him for the first time after finishing a quest raises rapport. |
Feed him treats | Treats are handed over through the Battle Pack during an expedition, and Koo Treats specifically give the biggest single boost of any method on this list, which makes them worth saving rather than burning on hunger. |
Shower together | Using the shower aboard the ship after returning from a quest raises rapport. |
Eat in the field | Opening the Battle Pack and eating raises his rapport as well as clearing hunger, so the routine feeding pass is already progress. |
The payoff is loadout space. Higher rapport unlocks more skill and item slots for Koo, which means more Bloom Arts available in a single fight and more consumables he can carry into it. Maxing the track unlocks the Closest Companion achievement.
Koo Track Reward | Detail |
|---|---|
Skill and item slots | Koo's Command System holds a shared pool of skills and items he uses without being told, and rapport is what widens it. The pool takes skills, items or a mix, so one unlock can buy another automatic heal or another passive. |
Man's Best Friend | Awarded for the first deep talk with him, which is the Koo-side twin of Kagura's first conversation trophy. |
Snack Time | Awarded the first time he is fed a treat. |
Closest Companion | Awarded for maxing the track. |
The slot pool is the reason the track matters mechanically rather than sentimentally. Koo acts on his own between commanded Bloom Arts, and what he can act with is whatever is loaded into that pool, so a wider pool is the difference between one automatic heal per fight and a heal plus a defensive item plus a status cure. Skill Ambers and skill tree unlocks decide what is available to load; rapport decides how much of it he can carry at once.
Rapport With Kagura
How to Raise It | Detail |
|---|---|
Talk to her aboard the ship | Conversations on the Walker raise rapport, and extra scenes surface before major fights. |
Bring back recipes | Handing over a recipe found in the world raises rapport as well as adding it to her research queue. |
Collect and plant seedlings | Seedlings are handled by Kagura, so gathering and planting them feeds this track. |
Incubate fertilized eggs | Putting a Fertilized Egg in the Incubator raises rapport. |
Benefit | Detail |
|---|---|
Faster cooking research | Higher rapport shortens the time she needs to research a new recipe. |
More rations | The rations issued automatically before disembarking scale with her rapport rank. |
Supreme Curry | Unlocked at rapport rank 8, and not obtainable anywhere else. |
Supreme Onigiri | Unlocked at rapport rank 10, and not obtainable anywhere else. |
Knowing Me, Knowing You for the first deep conversation, Bestie for reaching maximum rapport. | |
Better dishes | The recipe pool she can draw on widens with rank, so the meal waiting at the next rest is a stronger one. |
Character episodes | New scenes open as the track climbs, flagged by an icon on the return option when Emma is resting at a campsite. |
Both Supreme recipes are required for the Gourmand achievement, so the Kagura track is effectively mandatory for a completion run. Her track runs to rank 10, and the two recipes sit at 8 and 10, which puts the last stretch of it behind most of the campaign rather than behind a farming session. The Koo track has no published rank numbers of its own; what it visibly does is add slots as it climbs, with the achievement landing at the top.
The Once-Per-Day Limit
Repeatable affinity conversations were originally unlimited, and players raised both tracks by talking on a loop. The version 1.0.7 patch limited them to once per day as a story pacing change, so rapport now advances alongside the campaign rather than being farmed in a single sitting.
That change did not arrive alone. The same patch fixed a bug that could lock the Kagura conversation out entirely: with the interact action bound to Square or X, pressing it during the story event where Emma talks to her on the Walker would fire rest until morning instead, skipping the conversation. The following patch continued in the same direction, making Brad's arrival dialogue manual rather than automatic and retuning the conditions that had cutscenes stacking up back to back when moving between areas.
The practical effect for anyone raising both tracks is that the loop is now a habit rather than a grind. Return to the vessel whenever the camp menu shows the episode icon, take the one conversation available that day, pet Koo, use the shower, hand over any recipe found since the last visit, and drop a fertilized egg in the Incubator. That sequence advances both tracks in a single stop and costs a couple of minutes, which is the pace the pacing change was aiming for.
