Ananta has not yet launched globally. This page includes details from official posts, developer interviews, hands-on previews, and the January 2026 Closed Beta Test as of February 16, 2026.

ANANTA (formerly Project Mugen) is a free-to-play urban open-world RPG published by NetEase Games and developed by Naked Rain alongside NetEase Montreal, with a combined team of roughly 700 to 800 people. The game is set in Nova City, a coastal metropolis about the size of Manhattan, where the player investigates supernatural incidents tied to Chaos as captain of the A.C.D. task force.
The name "Ananta" comes from Sanskrit, meaning "without end" or "infinite." It was publicly revealed at Gamescom in August 2023 under the codename Project Mugen, then rebranded in late 2024.
What has been shown
Based on trailers, the TGS 2025 hands-on demo, and the first Closed Beta Test (January 16-20, 2026, PC only, China region), ANANTA mixes hand-to-hand combat with open-world exploration, vehicles, a crime system similar to GTA, and a heavy emphasis on optional city activities. Players assemble a four-person team and can switch characters on the fly, each with their own job, combat style, and personal story. Movement includes Spider-Man-style grappling and wall-running with no stamina bar.
If you are new to the wiki, start with Getting Started, then check Nova City and Combat System.
Platforms and release
Confirmed platforms are PC (dedicated launcher, not Steam), PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, iOS, and Android. A global release date has not been announced. Multiple outlets estimate late 2026 or early 2027. Korean early access has been confirmed, and additional beta tests are expected.
Monetization
ANANTA is free-to-play. NetEase has confirmed there is no character gacha; all characters are obtainable through gameplay. Revenue comes from cosmetic purchases: outfits, vehicle skins, and housing furniture. A season pass is under consideration but not finalized.
