Server Matching

AION 2 keeps the two factions on separate servers. Each Elyos server is paired with an Asmodian server, and whenever players enter the Abyss or another cross-faction mode such as the Spacetime Rifts, the enemies they meet come from the paired server. NCsoft explained the system in a post published on September 28, 2026 (Pacific time), shortly before Advance Access opened, and said the pairings last for a limited time and will be updated periodically to keep the factions balanced.
NCsoft's earlier notice on how Advance Access works said that during Advance Access the Abyss matches only Advance Access servers with each other, and that after launch servers are matched by how far along and how strong each one is, so that servers at a similar stage meet. Dungeons and other instanced content are cross-server regardless of pairing. The pairings published for Advance Access, in a post NCsoft updated on September 30 as servers were added, were:
Region | Elyos server | Asmodian server |
|---|---|---|
Europe | Siel | Israphel |
Europe | Nezekan | Zikel |
Europe | Vaizel | Triniel |
Europe | Kaisinel | Lumiel |
Europe | Ariel | Azphel |
Europe | Fregion | Ereshkigal |
NA West | Siel | Israphel |
NA East | Siel | Israphel |
NA East | Nezekan | Zikel |
Latin America | Siel | Israphel |
Latin America | Nezekan | Zikel |
Asia | Siel | Israphel |
Further servers opened on September 30, 2026 as queues grew: Yustiel and Marchutan and Meslamtaeda and Beritra in Europe, Vaizel and Triniel in NA East, and Nezekan and Zikel in NA West. As of October 2, 2026 the matchmaking post's pairing table does not include them, although the new-server notice lists each as an Elyos server and an Asmodian server opened together. Server transfers open on October 14, 2026, free at first and within the same faction, and Advance Access characters can move only between Advance Access servers. See Servers and Regions for the full server list.
The Korean service has run the same system since November 19, 2025, and its history shows how matching tends to evolve.
Season 1 used fixed one-to-one pairings, and matched servers shared the Spacetime Rifts and the Abyss.
Rematching has happened roughly every two weeks, sometimes three, on maintenance days, usually Wednesdays (the June 4 rematch fell on a Thursday); the patch notes give no fixed cycle. Rematches were announced for February 11 and 25, March 11 and 25, April 8 and 22, May 13, June 4, June 17, July 1 and 15, July 29, August 12 and 26, and September 9 and 23, 2026.
Every rematch resets Artifact ownership and the Abyss Corridors.
On March 25, 2026 Abyss matching changed so that servers of the same faction can be matched against each other. In NCsoft's English wording, the two sides of the Chaotic Abyss are the West and East forces. Spacetime Rifts still match only opposing factions.
The rematch notes set event start times per matching group, which is why the artifact battle and Abyss bosses start at slightly different times in different groups.
As of October 2, 2026, NCsoft has not said whether the global service will adopt same-faction Abyss matching; its announced global pairings are one Elyos server against one Asmodian server.
