AION 2 bans automation and outside programs that give an advantage, but it also ships its own skill macro for cancelling basic attacks, and its own personal DPS meter. This page sets out the global rules and the history of both sides on the Korean service.
The Code of Conduct in NCsoft's global FAQ prohibits creating, distributing or using third-party programs, devices or equipment to interfere with the game or gain an unfair advantage. Its examples include programs that perform actions requiring direct interaction without the player's involvement, which it identifies as macros or botting, along with modifying the client, exploiting bugs and manipulating match results. Its reporting answer says players who accumulate reports may be subject to action ranging from temporary chat restrictions up to suspension or a block on access to the game. As of October 7, 2026 the FAQ does not mention damage meters by name.
Date | Change on the Korean service |
|---|---|
January 28, 2026 | Skill macro added to make cancels of the basic light and heavy attacks easier. Each step has its own delay, the macro runs while its key is held, manual input always takes priority, and the order of steps is not guaranteed. Mouse button keys do not work for it in the AION1 control mode. The key is bound under Settings, Key Settings, General, Skill Macro; on mobile the macro runs while its HUD button is held. |
April 1, 2026 | Gamepad shortcut (LB and X) added |
May 27, 2026 | Steps now use quickslots instead of selected skills, and the minimum delay between steps dropped from 50 ms to 10 ms |
July 15, 2026 | Macros saved per skill preset |
August 26, 2026 | Every skill received a minimum cancel time, which NCsoft said would narrow the differences in chaining, cancel timing and damage caused by players' game environments |
September 16, 2026 | Cancel timing on some class skill pairs changed specifically to discourage mouse macros for those cancels |
Late November 2025: a notice warned that using, promoting or distributing programs not officially allowed breaks the operations policy and leads to restrictions.
December 9, 2025: detection and blocking of mouse-control software with macro functions was switched on, and NCsoft announced the same day that it would pause it after players who were not using macros could not log in. NCsoft said macro use would still be monitored.
December 17, 2025: a report option for suspected macro users was added to the target panel. Since March 4, 2026 it works only in the field and the Abyss.
January 7, 2026: a CAPTCHA appears when behaviour looks automated. Failing it transforms the character for a time, with slower movement and no skills. Since February 11 the transformed character is forced into PvP, and since March 11 players of the same faction can attack it, although killing it gives no Abyss Points or ranking points.
February 2026: from February 11 the number of new real-name accounts that can be created per verified identity was temporarily cut from 30 to 10, and on February 25 an extra real-name verification step was added against macros and gold farms.
May 14, 2026: a stricter real-name re-verification was applied to 22,622 accounts showing certain usage patterns, and the updated notice listed four further batches that evening (12,614, 4,583, 19,135 and 3,736 accounts).
The Korean service added an official personal DPS meter on April 1, 2026, with a simple mode, a detailed per-skill mode, and adjustable transparency and position. It opens from the main menu or with Ctrl + X, measures either the selected target or all targets, and shows total combat time, DPS and total damage dealt; since July 1, 2026 it keeps up to 100 measurements. NCsoft's English announcement called it, tentatively, Combat Analysis. See User Interface. On its May 26, 2026 Korean livestream NCsoft warned against unauthorised third-party DPS meters that recorded and shared other players' damage data without consent: it asked the operators of such meters and sites to stop collecting personal information and remove it, said it would block them in game, and said it was considering legal action. It added that ordinary players were not affected.
