AION 2's social tools are a chat window with nine channels, a friends list with blocking, emotes and Mail. This page follows the official guidebook for the Korean service and the Korean update notes. The global FAQ adds only that AION 2 can be played solo or with friends.
Chat
Open chat from the speech bubble at the bottom left. Elyos and Asmodians cannot talk to each other in the open world: chat typed by the other faction appears as unreadable text. The exception is shared dungeons. Since March 11, 2026 Elyos and Asmodians who join the same Expedition, Transcendence or Sanctuary room can use party, force and dungeon chat together.

Channel | Command | Who receives it |
|---|---|---|
Normal | /s | Players within your view, 60 m |
Faction | /t | Your whole faction on the server you are on. Since January 21, 2026 it needs character level 45, to cut spam. |
Event | /e | Everyone in the same event area. Inside the Abyss Rift Zone it lets you talk to allies of your own side (July 15, 2026). |
Whisper | /w | One named player. /r replies to the last whisper; the Korean-keyboard form /ㄱ was added on March 4, 2026. |
Shout | /h | Players within 110 m |
Party | /p | Your party only |
Force | /f | Your force only; /a sends an alert message to the force (December 3, 2025) |
Legion | /l | Your legion |
Dungeon | /d | The dungeon waiting room |
The chat bar also has an emote button and voice input, which turns speech from a connected microphone into a text message. Party and force management commands work in chat too; see Parties and Forces.

Players can also message characters on other servers through PURPLE Talk, NCsoft's launcher messenger, and those messages appear in game (fixed August 19, 2026).
Friends and Blocking
The friends window lists your friends with their details, shows incoming friend requests to accept or decline, and lets you add anyone directly. The list holds 50 friends since March 25, 2026, up from 30. Blocking a player means you cannot become friends and cannot chat with each other. Blocked players are managed in their own tab, and mail has a separate block list. Friends can be invited straight into dungeon rooms.

Emotes
Emotes are gestures that let your character express a mood. Every character starts with 28, and more are earned through play or sold in the shop. The emote window sorts them into All, Emotion, Action and Communication, marks favourites with a star, and filters to favourites or to learned emotes. Emotes also work from the chat bar.

The Korean shop has sold extra emotes at 300 Quna each, one per character, for example five on December 24, 2025 and three on January 21, 2026. Shop and item tooltips preview an emote since February 11, 2026, and the shop will not sell an emote you already own (July 29, 2026).
A collaboration with the K-pop group fromis_9, which NCsoft announced in English on June 26, 2026, added choreography emotes that play the song. One of them lets its owner start a performance on dedicated stages in Verteron and Altgard, and up to five players in all, the starter included, can perform; players joining the performance do not need to own the emote. On the Korean service the group's name will be removed from item names after the November 25, 2026 maintenance.
Quest steps that used to require an emote, such as praying or clapping at a scene, can be completed without one since May 13, 2026.
A sound setting lets you mute the sound of your target's emotes.
The October 7, 2026 global patch fixed certain Emote commands that were not working properly in chat. NCsoft did not list the affected commands.
