Chalice of Muspel is a Sanctuary raid in AION 2 that NCsoft added to the Korean and Taiwanese service on May 27, 2026. The Korean name is 무스펠의 성배; English coverage has also used Muspel's Holy Grail and Musphel's Goblet for it. NCsoft called it the most challenging PvE dungeon in AION 2 at its release.

It is set in an ancient temple submerged beneath lava deep inside the Muspel volcano, which resurfaced after intense seismic activity.
Global service: The global client's game data, as of its September 18, 2026 snapshot, contains this Sanctuary, but NCsoft has not announced it for the global service as of October 7, 2026. Everything else on this page describes the Korean and Taiwanese service.
Detail | Value (KR/TW) |
|---|---|
Korean name | 무스펠의 성배 |
Type | Sanctuary (ten-player raid), Normal and Hard |
Opened | May 27, 2026 (Hard); Normal added June 10, 2026 |
Entry | Item level 4,500 (official guidebook); the game client's data lists 4,300 for Normal and 4,500 for Hard |
Attempts | Unlimited, but only one reward a week: rewards come only from the final boss kill, and a character who has used it cannot enter again |
Bosses | Iscariel (gatekeeper), Scourge Kaldrix (final) |
Main rewards | Lava Heart weapons (Hard only), Kaldrix Brooch, crafting materials |
Kina | Tradeable (official guidebook) |
Entry required item level 4,500 at release, with unlimited attempts inside the time limit. The Korean patch note adds that the final boss kill count was limited to two and that rewards came only from that kill. On June 10, 2026 a Normal difficulty was added, the original became Hard, the raid could be retried while a run was in progress (except mid-fight), and Hero Sync Stones from the cube went from one to two.

Boss | Role | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Iscariel | Gatekeeper | Colour assignments, bombs kicked into matching portals and a shield that has to be broken with portal shots |
Scourge Kaldrix | Final boss | See Kaldrix |
The Korean update notes name Iscariel's main patterns while fixing them:
Pattern | What the notes show |
|---|---|
Judgement of Two Colours (이색의 심판) and Harsh Judgement of Two Colours (가혹한 이색의 심판) | Weapons on the floor project safe zones; a June 4, 2026 fix stopped players taking instant-death damage when the weapons' safe zones did not overlap |
Desperate Guard (결사의 수호) | A phase in which Iscariel is shielded and builds to a raid-wide instant-death attack; portals summoned during it fire at players. Fixes: no dodging the wipe with Evasion Stance (June 4), shield health sometimes starting lower (June 17), portals failing to target players (July 15), and gliding below the arena to escape the wipe (September 23) |
Order on fast damage | Since July 15, 2026 Judgement of Two Colours fires before Desperate Guard when Iscariel's health drops quickly |
Burn | The burn status Iscariel applies is removed when it dies (July 1, 2026) |
A Korean strategy guide splits the force by party and colour (one party left and red, the other right and green) and notes that Iscariel fires lasers from its orbs between every large pattern. The Judgement of Two Colours comes at 75% health, the Harsh version at 50% and Desperate Guard at 70% and 30%, and below 30% extra cross, circle and spread zones join the usual patterns. See Iscariel.
Reward | Notes |
|---|---|
Lava Heart Weapon (Extend) | Dropped by Scourge Kaldrix |
Lava Heart Barrier | Dropped by Scourge Kaldrix |
Kaldrix Brooch | For the Brooch slot added in the same update; since June 17, 2026 the conversion recipe needs one Gear Change Voucher: Kaldrix instead of two |
Pet: Red Dragon | First-clear reward |
Draconic crafting materials | All seven, in bound form only, since September 9, 2026 |
The first-clear event, Raise the First Chalice, counted clears by the time Kaldrix died and was extended on June 10 to reward the first twenty forces. The same May 27 update added craft-only Genesis and Nemesis Dragon Lord weapons and guards through Transfer Crafting, Philosopher's Stone: Power, raised the six main stat caps to 250 and lifted the Attack Boost and Defense Boost caps to 130%.
The Chapter 1 update on July 1, 2026 changed every Sanctuary: the attempt limit was removed, the reward limit became a final boss kill count of one per week with rewards doubled to compensate, the entry cost rose from 40 to 80 Odyle Energy, and the time limit was set to two hours. Since April 22, 2026 each boss room allows two resurrections in total, counting both skill resurrections and Resurrection Spiritstones, and the count resets when a boss fight starts, when the boss dies or when the party wipes.
