Abyss Ranks
October 7, 2026 at 12:18 AM
Aligned names with the rest of the wiki: Abyss rank names
Abyss ranks measure a character's standing in the faction war. They are decided by Abyss ranking points, a separate track from the spendable Abyss Points, and they set the size of some PvP rewards, a damage buff, and who gets into a full Abyss. Everything on this page describes the Korean and Taiwanese service unless it says otherwise.
No single patch note lists the whole ladder, but the Korean notes name every rank. The English names below are translations of the Korean ranks; the global client may use different wording.
Group | Ranks (translated) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Trainee | Trainee | The starting rank |
Soldiers | 9th-class Soldier up to 1st-class Soldier | Nine grades. When the rank bonus to Abyss Points was graduated (December 2025), it fell from 30% at Trainee by 3% per grade to 3% at 1st-class Soldier. |
Officers | 1-star Officer up to 5-star Officer | Five grades. From March 4, 2026 characters of 1-star Officer rank or higher could always enter the Abyss regardless of the population cap; that rule was replaced on April 8, 2026. |
Senior ranks | General, Grand General, Commander, Supreme Commander | The ranking point thresholds for General and above were lowered on February 11, 2026 |
Ranks follow Abyss ranking points. On December 24, 2025 the calculation changed from a running total that went up and down to an accumulating one.
Since February 11, 2026 dying in PvP lowers ranking points instead of costing Abyss Points. The loss was reduced sharply on February 25, 2026, with repeated deaths on the same day losing less each time.
Once a character reaches the Abyss Point cap, PvE stops giving ranking points; only PvP does, apart from the Abyss Corridor (February 11, 2026).
From Season 3 (April 8, 2026) the rank and grade used for the Abyss, and for the Arena, Transcendence and Nightmare rankings, are based on class ranking. NCsoft's English announcement for that update describes the same move to class-based rankings for the Abyss.
The official guidebook summarises the system as a ranking: Abyss ranking points are earned by killing players of the other faction and Abyss monsters and lost on death, and a character's rank and rewards follow how its accumulated points compare with other players'. The ranking screen also shows the top three Abyss players on the server, a character's own ranking and its expected reward.
Benefit | Detail |
|---|---|
Abyss Point bonus | A flat 30% bonus to Abyss Point gains for every rank since February 11, 2026 |
Rank buff | PvP damage amplification and resistance, plus an equal PvE Abyss damage amplification since February 11, 2026. When this was set, only the highest of the Abyss rank buff and the two Arena ranking buffs applied; the Arena ranking buffs were removed on April 8, 2026. The buff does not apply in Chaotic Upper Reshanta (since July 8, 2026). |
Priority entry | Characters with 1.5 million earned Abyss ranking points who are also in the overall top 200 can enter the Abyss even when it is full (since April 8, 2026) |
Nameplate icon | Rank icons appear on Abyss nameplates; since April 8, 2026 they reflect class ranking |
Kill rewards | Killing a higher-ranked enemy pays more Abyss Points than killing a lower-ranked one |
For a time the higher tiers of Abyss gear also required a rank: Tribunus gear needed a 1-star Officer and Legion Commander gear a General from January 21, 2026. Those purchase limits were removed on March 25, 2026.
Weekly Abyss ranking rewards are paid on Wednesdays at 05:00 Korean time (since December 3, 2025).
Season 2 class rankings in the Abyss, Nightmare and Transcendence awarded Pantheon decorations.
Generals and Grand Generals of the previous Abyss season received a head accessory appearance as their ranking reward.
Season missions reward kills of specific rank groups: separate missions for defeating Commanders and Supreme Commanders, Generals and Grand Generals, and Officers, plus missions aimed at Officers and at 1st to 4th-class Soldiers (December 24, 2025). Since April 29, 2026 those kills no longer count in the Arena or the Battlefield.
Season ranking points move with a character on a server transfer.
The Abyss ranking is one of the game's seasonal contents. Under the season system described in the official guidebook, each season has a fixed run and is followed by the next; rankings and progress can reset when a season ends; final rankings use the best single record within the season; and season rewards follow class rankings (since January 21, 2026). Season missions, made up of per-content season missions and weekly missions, pay oath coins (맹세의 주화), which are spent in the season shop, and reset with each new season.
NCsoft's English announcement for Season 3 says season rewards were redesigned around prestige items rather than stat progression. As of October 7, 2026, NCsoft has not published the rank thresholds or a full reward table for any season.
