Smoke Pod
October 9, 2026 at 11:40 PM
Added dated October features and fixes; preserved the existing guide
Smoke Pods are concealment-cloud gadgets in 007 First Light. Throwing one blooms a smoke cloud outward that breaks enemy line of sight, defeats active alerts, and creates an escape route. Pair with the Laser Strap or Dart Phone for under-cover quiet work. The gadget unlocks after mission A Matter of Considerable Delicacy.
IO Interactive's own gadget rundown describes the Smoke Pod as blocking visibility at short range, so it works best thrown close, between Bond and the guards he needs to slip past.
Like the rest of the Q Branch kit, Smoke Pods do not run on a cooldown. Gadget uses are replenished from electronic and chemical resources collected throughout each level, so a pod thrown early in a mission is one fewer available later unless Bond picks up more supplies along the way.
Use | Effect |
|---|---|
Escape route | Smoke breaks enemy line of sight; alert status drops if Bond exits the visible area |
Under-cover work | Cloud lets Bond move past patrols quietly |
Combat reset | Use in active combat to reset enemy aggression and reposition |
Unlocked after mission A Matter of Considerable Delicacy, alongside Flash Mine.
Game Update 1.1.0 (July 24, 2026) fixed a Journal bug where the Smoke Pod entry displayed a black image. The full changelog is on the Day One Patch page.
New Game+ allows gadgets to be changed during a mission, but only after each gadget has become available at that point in the story. Finishing the campaign does not make the entire gadget catalog available in the opening missions. See New Game+ for the campaign completion gate and replay options.
Update 1.3.1 (October 7, 2026) repaired flickering when inspecting this gadget's alternate-skin details in the Customization Menu. The same repair covers Dart Phone, Flash Mine, Smoke Pod and Missile Pen.
Update 1.3.0 fixed a crash when NPCs recovered from a Smoke Pod. This was a stability repair; it does not specify a new cloud duration or an automatic reset of enemy aggression.
