Vehicles and RVs

The studio's position on vehicles has held steady across nearly a year of posts: a vehicle is a mobile home first and transport second. That framing appeared in November 2025, it is a panel of its own on the July 2026 Roadmap under the heading that your car is your mobile home, and it is the title theme of the 2026-08-03 community letter, subtitled a home on wheels.

The first pre-alpha tech test did not include full vehicle interior building. Vehicle types referenced across second-test feedback and the studio's own posts are cars, trucks, bicycles, trailers and RVs. First-party copy names welding a bed into an RV and fitting a drumkit as examples of what an interior can hold, and describes a toilet pulled out of a building serving as a driver's seat. That is the same principle that governs Crafting and Modification: anything can be fused to anything if it makes rough sense.
The 2026-08-03 letter split its vehicle section into progress made and a preview of what comes next.
Area | What the studio reported |
|---|---|
Trailer vehicles | Truck cabs and trailers are now connected by hinge joints, which the studio said improves steering on big rigs. |
Fuel consumption | Will vary by vehicle type rather than draining at one uniform rate. |
Collision | Collision effects adjusted according to speed. |
Multi-surface snapping | Announced, not built. Every face of the vehicle body, roof, sides and rear, would support placing objects. The studio called it a small spoiler on the month's vehicle progress. |
Container modules | Announced. Different container types to piece together a home on wheels. |
The July 2026 roadmap names three roof modules, a roof rack, a cargo frame and solar panels, plus ramming spikes at the front. All four are announced designs from a roadmap image and none has been played publicly. The solar panel line is the same one that appears in the game's electrical plans, covered on Power and Electricity.
The studio's own logged issues from the second test week included:
Vehicles vanishing
Vehicles floating
Stutter while driving or cycling
Bridge surfaces sitting higher than the road, so cars had to hop up onto them
Two more came from players rather than from the bug board. One player reported a 10 litre fuel tank as far too small, a figure that comes from that player's account and has never been stated by the studio. Another reported that ramming a zombie with a large truck took about a minute of grinding rather than killing it outright. The studio quoted and acknowledged both in its 2026-08-03 letter without confirming the numbers. The rest of that build is covered on Second Pre-Alpha Tech Test.
On 2026-07-01, in the last dev log of the test week, the studio said the next update is all about RVs and ran an RV screenshot contest, with ten winners receiving a direct pass to the official launch. The shutdown post published the following day named vehicle customization as one of three areas being fixed for the next build, alongside PVE protection and performance, which puts vehicles at the centre of the work the studio said it was going away to do.
Fast travel is an open question and the studio has answered one half of it firmly. Teleport has been explicitly ruled out for now. Flying vehicles have been floated twice by the studio as a possible future answer, most recently on 2026-06-30, but they were raised as an idea under discussion and not announced as a feature. Everything else about distance and terrain is covered on World and Map.
