Two roadmaps have been published for Zeverland. The July 2026 one is current and is the game's clearest statement of direction; the November 2025 one came earlier and covers a different set of concerns. The November roadmap precedes the July one, it does not replace it.
The July 2026 Roadmap
Published as a single image after the Second Pre-Alpha Tech Test, the roadmap opens with a line about that test: "Over these seven days, we took in every cheer and every complaint you shared. This time, we've decided to make real changes." It is laid out in four panels.
Solo Mode and Private Servers
The first panel, headed "Solo Mode & Self-Hosted Servers!", announced the central change: a shift from a pure massively multiplayer game into a buy-to-play survival-crafting cooperative PVE game, with servers supporting both solo play and multiplayer cooperation. The panel's phrase "self-hosted" was loose. Three weeks later, on 2026-08-03, the studio corrected it explicitly: whether a server is official or private, it runs on the studio's own infrastructure, with no ports or hardware for a player to deal with. The current model is set out on Servers and Multiplayer.
Waste No Wastelander
The second panel confirmed that the game is doubling down on cooperative play, in its own words: "Survive together. Build together. Explore together, not harm each other." It committed to strengthening player protection rules and going all in on cooperation against the environment. The consequences of that decision are covered on PvE and PvP.
Your Car Is Your Mobile Home
The third panel is about vehicle customization: mounting living, storage and combat modules freely on a vehicle to turn it into a mobile home. Named roof modules are a roof rack, a cargo frame and solar panels, and the front of a vehicle takes ramming spikes. This is an announcement rather than a shipped feature; none of it has been shown running. See Vehicles and RVs.
And One More Thing
The fourth panel is a refinement list of eight systems, with no dates attached to any of them.
System named on the roadmap | Where it stands |
|---|---|
Expanded faction storyline | Factions exist and fight each other, but the story layer around them is thin. See Factions. |
Power system | Generators, wiring and lights were in the second test build with no tutorial. See Power and Electricity. |
Rainroots Hordes | A proper noun that appears only on this roadmap. Nothing else about it has been published. |
Ziplines | New to this roadmap. No prior mention anywhere. |
Farming and fishing | Both exist in the world already; a deeper fishing system was separately described as in the works. See Farming and Fishing. |
More weapon assembly | A modular firearm prototype was described in January 2026. See Weapon Assembly. |
NPC and building polish | Both drew heavy criticism after the second test. See NPC Companions. |
Larger maps with richer points of interest | Offered as the fix for loot running dry in cities. See World and Map. |
Rainroots Hordes deserves a warning. It is a named, capitalised system on an official roadmap and it appears nowhere else in any published material, so nothing beyond the name is known. Horde gameplay in general was described on 2026-08-03 as in design, grander than anything shown so far, and still being iterated on internally, but the studio has not said whether that work and Rainroots Hordes are the same thing.
The roadmap closes with: "Thank you all for the feedback during the Second Test... You talked. We listened. We're polishing it. See you at the next test!" One practical consequence is that this roadmap supersedes the store page's own marketing copy, which still invites players to team up with thousands of others and describes shared server-wide endings from the game's earlier massively multiplayer period.
The Earlier November 2025 Roadmap
A roadmap video pointed to on 2025-11-21 covered 2026 and part of 2027. Its contents were narrower and more technical: controller support, more device models, vehicle modding and additional languages. Of those, the language list has clearly advanced, since the store now lists thirteen interface languages against the two the game supported in November 2025. Controller support remains unconfirmed, as noted on System Requirements.
Because this roadmap came first, it should not be read as adding to or overriding the July 2026 one. Where the two touch the same subject, the July version is the current statement.
Timing
No first-party post announces a demo date or an Early Access date. As of 2026-08-03 the studio said the next playtest date had not been finalised and that it was heading into a long stretch of heads-down development, framing the choice as one more week of testing meaning one less week of building content. At gamescom 2026 the studio told people who played the build that it was targeting a public demo in the first quarter of 2027 with Early Access later that year. That came out of booth conversations with no announcement behind it, and of everything on this page it is the claim most likely to change.
