The Mothership is your mobile base of operations in the ZeroSpace Campaign. Assigned to you as a newly appointed Protectorate commander, it carries your crew and your growing army between missions and serves as the hub where you prepare for what comes next.
Upgrading the Ship
A core loop of the Campaign is improving the Mothership over time. As you complete missions and gather resources, you invest in upgrades that strengthen your fleet and unlock new options on the battlefield. The ship reflects your progress, growing more capable as the story advances.
A Place for Your Crew
The Mothership is also where the role-playing side of ZeroSpace lives. Between battles you walk its halls, speak with crew members, and make decisions that shape relationships and alliances. These conversations feed directly into the branching choices of the Campaign, so time aboard the ship shapes the story as much as any mission does. See Crew and Recruitment for how you build out your roster, and Heroes and Commanders for the leaders who fight under your command.
Story Between Missions
Not all of the writing aboard the ship is delivered in conversation. On July 30, 2026 an update added new emails and codex entries, giving the ship a reading layer alongside its dialogue. The same update reworked the presentation of the ship scenes themselves, with new camera shots for some ship layer dialogue, facial animation passes on several cinematics, and lighting changes.
Ship Menus
The ship is navigated through its own menus, and those menus are still being tidied up. An update on August 19, 2026 fixed assorted text clipping and layout problems in them, and made the post-mission victory screen wait for dialogue that is still playing before it appears. Fixes like these arrive on a weekly cadence during Early Access; Update History tracks them as they land.
Still Being Built Out
The hub is sized for a campaign that has not fully shipped. Act 1 delivered 12 missions at the July 20, 2026 launch, against a planned 1.0 total of 15 main story, 10 hero loyalty and 15 side story arc missions, so most of the crew arcs the ship is built to hold are still to come. The studio's stated plan for the full version includes additional events and character interactions during the campaign on top of the remaining missions, which is the part of the hub that grows most between now and 1.0.
While the Mothership is tied most closely to the single-player story, the army you assemble around it carries into the Galactic War and Skirmish as you learn the game's wider systems.
