Scouting Drone (Xol)
September 11, 2026 at 10:23 PM
Initial version (2026-09-11)
The Scouting Drone is the Xol vision unit: 25 hexite, no supply, no weapon, and a limit of three on the field at once. Seventy five health and vision 18 is the whole specification. It exists so a Xol player can see, and the Legion of Truth fields a unit with the identical name and identical numbers, which is why this page carries the faction in its title.
Figures below describe the September 2026 Early Access build, the one carrying the identifier ZS.c36778, and they move with the weekly patch cadence. Roughly half the versus roster had a stat touched in the fortnight before that build was captured, so treat every number here as dated rather than permanent.

The Scouting Drone has no weapon. The record publishes an empty attack list, which for this unit is a design property rather than a gap: it is a vision unit and nothing else.
The record publishes no activated ability, no passive and no siege mode. That is a genuine gap in the data rather than a confirmed absence, because scouting units in other factions carry at least a detection or a cloak behaviour and this one carries nothing at all in its record.
No Scouting Drone upgrades exist and the Molten Core cannot upgrade it. The World Forge upgrades do reach it, because it is tagged as a Xol army unit, though most of them have nothing to act on: Vitals raises its 75 health and Armor adds to its armour value of 0, while Damage, Weapon Range and Cooldown Reduction have no weapon to apply to.
Replicate is the Xol conversion mechanic, paid out of the same top bar power pool as the Grell Infuse and the Legion Reanimate, and it copies an eligible allied unit. The Scouting Drone is eligible for none of the three: it carries no Infuse, Reanimate or Replicate cost and is flagged ineligible for each. It can, however, be mind controlled, which separates it from the Xol Harvester, the other Xol unit with no conversion prices.
Twenty five hexite and no supply for vision 18 at move speed 650 is the cheapest information in the faction, and the three unit cap is what balances it: a Xol player gets three simultaneous eyes and no more, so where they are placed matters more than how many are made. Ten seconds of build time means a lost drone is replaced almost immediately, and the only real cost of losing one is the hexite and the time it spends flying back out.
Armour is a number as well as a type. It subtracts a flat amount from every incoming hit with a floor of 1 damage, so it blunts many small hits far more than one large one. The drone carries an armour value of 0 and 75 health, so it dies to a single volley from essentially anything that can shoot upward. Nothing about it is meant to survive contact.
The practical use is the same as any scout: find the enemy expansion timing, watch a third base, and keep vision on a path an army is likely to take. Because the Xol merge tree makes army composition unusually reactive, with Rollers and Spectrons banked and merged upward on demand, seeing what is coming is worth more to this faction than to one whose production is committed further in advance.
The Legion of Truth scouting drone shares this unit name and every published stat: 75 health, 0 supply, 25 hexite, move speed 650, a cap of three and Light armour. The two differ only in that the Legion record lists it at Tier 0 and names the Garrison Tower as its unlocking structure, while the Xol record leaves both blank. The Protectorate equivalent is a differently named unit with the same health, supply and cost but a cap of two. See Units for the shared stat block and Factions for how the four rosters differ.
Strong against | Why |
|---|---|
Information denial | Twenty five hexite and no supply means scouting costs the Xol almost nothing. |
Wide maps | Move speed 650 and vision 18 cover ground quickly for the price. |
Weak to | Why |
|---|---|
Anything that shoots air | 75 health with no armour value dies to a single volley. |
Mind control effects | The drone can be mind controlled, unlike the Xol Harvester. |
Being counted | A cap of three means an opponent who kills two knows most of the vision is gone. |
Date | Change |
|---|---|
August 11, 2026 | A studio note records a scouting drone having its health reduced from 100 to 75 and its supply cost from 1 to 0. The note appears under a different faction heading, but the Xol drone in this build carries exactly those post change figures, so the change most likely applied across all of them. See the Notes below. |
The roster record for this unit is PARTIAL. The missing fields are its tier, which the source leaves empty, and any weapon or ability data, of which it publishes none. The record also names no producing or unlocking structure. Supply 0 and the absence of a weapon are real values rather than gaps.
The August 11, 2026 balance note that matches this drone sits under the Protectorate heading in the studio post, not the Xol one. All three faction scouts in this build share the same 75 health and 0 supply, so the change was probably global, but the studio post does not say so and the connection is an inference.
This article covers the Xol unit only. The identically named Legion of Truth drone is a separate entity with its own record, which is why the two pages are disambiguated by faction.
Per unit numbers are drawn from a community maintained entity catalogue that the studio links from each of its own faction pages. It is the only place the full stat block is published, and it is not a studio document, so the figures are best read as careful community documentation of a build rather than as an official specification. Dated balance notes, by contrast, come straight from the studio patch posts.
