The Spectron is the Xol Tier 1 ranged unit and one of the two bodies the faction banks for later, the other being the Roller. It costs 25 hexite and 50 flux, builds in five seconds, and hits ground and air at range 10 for 18 damage with a bonus of +50% against Medium armour. Out of combat it charges, and the entity description states the charge goes up to double its attack damage, lost once it fires. Two Spectrons merge into a Synapse and three into an Eradicator, so a Spectron on the field is also a deposit against a Tier 2 healer or a Tier 3 artillery piece.
Figures below describe the September 2026 Early Access build, the one carrying the identifier ZS.c36778, and they move with the weekly patch cadence. Roughly half the versus roster had a stat touched in the fortnight before that build was captured, so treat every number here as dated rather than permanent.

Weapons
Weapon | Mode | Damage | DPS | Range | Cooldown | Targets | Bonuses and splash |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Singularity Orb | Normal | 18 | 14 | 10 | 1.3s | Ground and air | +50% against Medium armour |
Singularity Orb (Molten) | Molten | 80 | 16 | 18 | 5s | Ground and air | +50% against Medium armour, 100% splash over 1.5 range |
The charge behaviour sits on top of those numbers rather than inside them. The record states the attack charges up to double damage while out of combat and loses the charge on firing, so an opening shot from a rested Spectron lands for considerably more than the listed 18, but the exact charge rate is not published.
Abilities
Ability | Type | Cooldown | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
Disassimilate | Activated | 12s | Moves the Spectron quickly to a target point and makes it invulnerable for the duration of the move. |
Upgrades
No Spectron specific upgrades exist. The Molten Core rewrites the unit for 100 energy, and the World Forge applies its army wide upgrades to it like any other Xol army unit.
Source | Cost | Effect |
|---|---|---|
Molten Core | 100 energy | Switches the Spectron to molten mode: a slower projectile that deals area damage, listed as Singularity Orb (Molten) above |
World Forge, six upgrades | 200 flux each, 400 flux for Casting Range, 60 seconds each | Pick 3 of Armor, Damage, Vitals, Weapon Range, Cooldown Reduction and Casting Range, each to 2 ranks, doubled near the Forge |
Conversion Costs
Replicate is the Xol conversion mechanic, paid out of the same top bar power pool as the Grell Infuse and the Legion Reanimate. Rather than buffing a unit it copies one, producing a second body from an eligible ally. Since the balance pass of August 11, 2026 it also works on molten units, at twice the usual power cost. Eligibility is not universal, and the tags on a unit record are what say which of the three conversions apply. The Spectron is eligible for all three at an identical 4.375 power each.
Role
The Spectron is the closest thing the faction has to a conventional ranged line unit, and a five second build time on a Tier 1 body means a Spectral Foundry can reinforce faster than most openings can punish. Range 10 against both ground and air is unusual breadth this cheap, and the +50% Medium bonus takes 18 damage to 27, which since August 11, 2026 covers every harvester and extractor in the game as well as a large part of the mid armour roster.
Molten trades the profile completely. Eighty damage at range 18 on a five second cycle is siege range with splash, but 16 damage a second is barely more than the 14 the normal mode manages, so the molten Spectron is a unit for hitting things that do not move rather than for a fight. Against Medium armour the molten orb lands for 120 in a 1.5 radius, which is the largest single hit available to the faction below Tier 3.
Disassimilate is the reason a 120 health unit survives at all. Twelve seconds is short enough to use it as a repositioning tool rather than as an escape, and the invulnerability during the move means a Spectron can be pulled out of a committed volley. Armour is a number as well as a type. It subtracts a flat amount from every incoming hit with a floor of 1 damage, so it blunts many small hits far more than one large one.
Faction Context
The Spectral Foundry is the second of three Tier 1 production buildings and unlocks Tier 1 mercenary hiring and the Molten Core. Because the Synapse and the Eradicator are both assembled from Spectrons rather than built directly, a player who wants either has to produce and hold Spectrons first, and the Unmerge change of August 11, 2026 means those bodies can be recovered on a 20 second cooldown at no power cost. See Units for the shared stat block and Heroes and Commanders for the Xol commander, which merges with Spectrons among other units.
Counters
Strong against | Why |
|---|---|
Medium armoured units and economy | The +50% bonus raises 18 damage to 27, and Medium covers every harvester and extractor since August 11, 2026. |
Fliers | Range 10 against air on a Tier 1 body is unusually early anti air for the price. |
Static targets, in molten form | Range 18 and 80 damage with splash outranges most defensive fire. |
Weak to | Why |
|---|---|
Anything that closes the gap | 120 health and Light armour with an armour value of 0 means a Spectron dies to almost any melee contact. |
Sustained pressure, in molten form | A five second cooldown means the molten Spectron contributes almost nothing in an extended fight. |
Splash damage | Two supply per body encourages massing them, which makes an area weapon efficient. |
Balance History
No dated studio balance note in the Early Access record names the Spectron directly. Its molten form is named in the Molten Core description, and the August 11, 2026 pass that changed Unmerge, Replicate and the Molten Core affects how it is used without touching its stats. Its own numbers appear unchanged across the two most recent data releases.
Notes
The roster record for this unit is COMPLETE. Every core field is published.
The charge mechanic is described in prose and not quantified. The record says the attack charges up to double its damage while out of combat and loses the charge once it attacks, but publishes no charge rate and no separate charged damage figure, so the peak value of an opening shot cannot be stated precisely from the data.
Per unit numbers are drawn from a community maintained entity catalogue that the studio links from each of its own faction pages. It is the only place the full stat block is published, and it is not a studio document, so the figures are best read as careful community documentation of a build rather than as an official specification. Dated balance notes, by contrast, come straight from the studio patch posts.
