Thorn Fiddler is a crab creature in Windrose. Spawns in groups of 1-2. Appears during the night portion of the day-night cycle.

Crabs are coastal-wildlife encounters commonly clustered on Coastal Jungle beaches and inside coastal caves. They drop Crab Meat and crafting materials.

Does Not Drop Crab Shell

The thorn fiddler shares the crab silhouette and drops Crab Meat, so it is easy to assume the species is also the source of Crab Shell. That is not the case in the current build. Crab Shell only drops from the smaller orange beach crabs that appear during the day, and time spent farming thorn fiddlers for the shell produces no progress on the Trophy Crab recipe. The confusion is common because the thorn fiddler is a larger, more imposing target than the beach crabs, but its drop table reads Crab Meat plus Undead Essence plus a Pearl chance, never Crab Shell.

If the goal of a beach loop is the Trophy Crab, target the small orange day-spawn crabs on the shoreline instead. The thorn fiddler is still worth clearing for Undead Essence on the night shift, but not for crab-shell farming.
