Overview

Marcel Boucher was a Rogue Buccaneer and the younger brother of Henri Boucher. He is already dead by the time the player encounters the Glorious Hunters storyline. Marcel led a hunting party into the Coastal Jungle, was ambushed by pirates, and his party retreated into the jungle where they perished. Marcel's fate is reconstructed through diary pages and personal effects scattered across three abandoned Buccaneer camps.

Role in the Story

Marcel's death is the inciting event for Glorious Hunters. The player delivers the Broken Musket and the recovered diary pages to Henri Boucher at the Rogue Buccaneers Main Base. Henri then asks the player to avenge Marcel by sinking three pirate ships. The reward is the Buccaneer's Friend.

Glorious Hunters Quest Hook

Marcel's death is the inciting event for the Glorious Hunters faction quest given by Henri Boucher. The quest splits into two phases: a ground phase (investigate the abandoned campsites, recover the diary and Broken Musket) and a naval phase (sink three pirate ships to avenge Marcel). Henri receives the recovered evidence at the Rogue Buccaneers Main Base, a remote island. Players who have not yet built reputation with the faction can still complete it, since the quest is the standard entry point into the Rogue Buccaneers reward line.

Reward Detail

Completing Glorious Hunters grants the player the Buccaneer's Frienda musket with 585 Pierce damage plus 200 Rogue Buccaneers reputation. That reputation contributes toward the Faction Reputation threshold needed to unlock higher-tier Buccaneers Provisioner wares. The Buccaneer's Friend is the earliest named musket a new character reliably gets, and its 585 Pierce makes it competitive with the Infantry Musket and Reliable Musket into mid-game.

In-Game Encounter

He is a posthumous character: his death drives the faction quest, and he is never a living NPC who travels with the player. His voice in the narrative is a reconstruction, since the diary is the only first-person testimony the player ever sees.

Killed By

MarcelBlackbeard-aligned pirate forces. He retreated with his remaining party into a nearby ruin to regroup, but they did not survive. The player finds active boar patrols still circling the abandoned campsite during the investigation phase, which is how the recovered musket tests the player's ranged combat before the naval-boss escalation.
