Works only within the Bonfire range. Like all decorations, it has to sit inside the bonfire radius to contribute its bonus.

Comfort and the Rested Buff
The Frigate on a Stand counts toward the Miniatures decoration slot of the Comfort System. Comfort comes from filling distinct category slots, so this model grants its +1 only once. Adding a second ship model from the same Miniatures category, such as the Brig on a Stand, gives no extra Comfort because that slot is already filled. Every point of Comfort lengthens your Rested buff, the rest bonus you gain beside the Bonfire, so a single ship model is a cheap way to claim the Miniatures slot toward a higher rest tier.
If you simply like the look, the other hull classes have their own stand models: the Brig on a Stand, the Ketch on a Stand, and the Cutter on a Stand. They all share the same Miniatures slot, so pick whichever fits your decor.

Tips
Place one ship model inside the Bonfire radius to claim the Miniatures slot, then spend the rest of your decorating on other categories to keep raising total Comfort.
Do not line up several stand models for more Comfort; the duplicates add nothing. Use the extras purely as decoration if you like the look.
