Elixirs are Alchemy consumables that provide powerful combat buffs. They stack on top of food and drink buffs, giving dedicated pre-fight preparation a fourth slot to play with. Windrose has five base Rare elixirs that last 15 minutes each, plus four Epic Infused upgrades that double the duration to 30 minutes. All elixirs are crafted at the Alchemy Table (or an upgraded station such as the Stove and Pot, Reagent Table, or Distiller).
Base elixirs are the entry point. Each uses an Alchemical Base plus two or three additional reagents and produces a single 15-minute buff. They can be consumed as-is, or fed into the Distiller to create the Infused Epic version.

Infused elixirs are Epic rarity upgrades. They are brewed at the Distiller from a base elixir plus 3 Bromeliad and 2 Tear of Sorrow. The effect percentage is the same as the base form; the duration is what doubles, from 15 minutes to a full 30.

The only base elixir without a confirmed Infused variant in the current item database is Elixir of Pain Relief. The other four all distill into Epic versions using the same Bromeliad plus Tear of Sorrow pattern.
Pick by weapon type and fight length. Melee builds double-dip with Firm Hand; ranged builds take Precision. Cruelty is weapon-agnostic and adds flat damage, which is the best choice when you swap between melee and firearms mid-fight. Concentration is the critical-focused pick for glass-cannon builds and high-crit weapon rolls. Pain Relief is for fights you expect to lose health in, such as multi-wave Cursed Swamps clears or Boarding actions against heavily-armored crews.
Two-handed melee build: Firm Hand (or Infused) for the +13% melee damage
Musket and pistol build: Precision (or Infused) for the +13% ranged damage
Critical-chance build: Concentration (or Infused) for the +30% critical damage
Mixed / naval build: Cruelty (or Infused) for the flat +8% damage that applies to every source
Tank build or long clears: Pain Relief for the +15% damage resistance
All alchemy reagents can be prepared in one of five ways: whole, powdered, as an oil, as an infusion, or as a tincture in alcoholic spirits. Each reagent has an "ideal preparation" that prevents the experiment from failing. The preparation method does not change the resulting effect; it only determines whether the craft succeeds cleanly. Elixirs occupy their own slot in the buff UI and do not count against the two-food plus one-drink ceiling. A fully stacked pre-boss loadout can run a Strength food, a Vitality food, a damage grog like Dead Eye Grog, and an Infused Elixir of Cruelty at the same time, giving +20 STR, +20 VIT, +15% damage, and +8% damage all active for the full 30-minute duration window.
Version 0.10.0.0.277 buffed Firm Hand from +10% to +13% melee damage and raised Cruelty from +5% to +8% damage. The April 13, 2026 patch reduced Concentration's Critical Damage bonus from +40% to +30%. Values shown above match the current 0.10.0.1.6 item database.
