Not a helmet. Do not wear on head. Essential for alchemy and cooking. Crafted at a workbench.
Clay Pot is not gathered in the world: it is crafted at a Workbench from 6x Clay. Clay itself is mined with a Pickaxe from the dark earthy deposits found along beaches and the starting coastline, so a single clay run yields enough for several pots. Crafting is instant once you have the clay on hand.
Clay Pot is a station-building material rather than a consumable ingredient. Its main use is the Alchemy Table, the station where potions and elixirs are brewed. Building the first Alchemy Table consumes Clay Pots alongside Wood. Because the pot is the gate to alchemy and to several cooking upgrades, crafting a couple early is a common first step once the Workbench is up.

Mine with a pickaxe from rocks, boulders, and cobbles found anywhere on the map.
You need at least a basic Pickaxe to harvest Clay; bare hands will not break clay deposits. Keep a spare pot or two in storage so you can place an Alchemy Table the moment you settle a new base.
