Created article: stats, patrol encounters, boarding loot, and combat notes for the Blackbeard faction Cutter
The Blackbeard Cutter is the Blackbeard faction's AI-controlled variant of the Cutter, a small, fast scout that patrols open water. Like the other faction scouts it is a fodder encounter: low hull, decent speed, and quick to sink in a fair broadside, but worth stopping for because its boarding loot feeds the early-game Piastre economy.
Property | Value |
|---|---|
Kind | AI-controlled |
Faction | Blackbeard |
Hull HP | 200 |
Top speed | 17.3 kn |
Crew capacity | 30 (Cutter family value) |
Role | Scout and patrol vessel |
Blackbeard Cutters turn up on patrol in Blackbeard-controlled water such as Blackbeard Waters. Sinking or boarding one is a reliable early source of Provisions: boarding yields the crate at roughly a 50 percent rate, and the destroyed-ship container drops zero or one at about the same odds. The crew aboard can also carry Deckhand Insignia, the Rare reputation turn-in worn by veterans of Blackbeard's fleet, with the Blackbeard Sergeant the most notable carrier.
At 200 hull HP a Blackbeard Cutter falls to a couple of well-aimed broadsides from a stock 12-pound battery, so treat it as a target to clear rather than a threat to respect. Boarding one instead lets you clear the deck in melee and take the loot directly; the hull itself either sinks or remains as a static wreck, since no ship in Windrose can be captured and added to the player roster. See Naval Combat for the general ship-to-ship ruleset.
