Publishing deal
Bandai Namco Entertainment signed a global publishing deal with Rebel Wolves on October 23, 2024. Under this agreement, Bandai Namco handles both retail and digital distribution of The Blood of Dawnwalker on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game is described as the first chapter of a brand-new role-playing saga, implying planned sequels or continuation.
Funding
Rebel Wolves has confirmed the game is "fully funded" and unaffected by NetEase's restructuring. NetEase holds only a minority stake in Rebel Wolves (investment secured in November 2022), with the studio retaining full creative control and IP ownership. The Bandai Namco deal covers publishing and distribution; it does not give Bandai Namco creative input or IP rights.
Rebel Wolves' independence
Studio CEO Konrad Tomaszkiewicz founded Rebel Wolves in February 2022 in Warsaw, Poland. The studio was built around a core of veterans from CD Projekt Red, including developers from The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. The funding structure (NetEase minority investment plus Bandai Namco publishing deal) preserves the studio's creative autonomy, which Tomaszkiewicz has emphasized as a priority.
Release timeline
The game was revealed on January 13, 2025, during a livestream from Rebel Wolves' studio under the Full Wolf Moon. A full gameplay reveal followed at the Xbox Games Showcase in June 2025, with hands-off press previews at Gamescom in August 2025. The release is scheduled for 2026 on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X|S.
