Gust and Ginger are crossover characters from My Time at Portia, a collaboration between Seed Sparkle Lab (Starsand Island) and Pathea Games (the My Time series). They are siblings who relocate from their hometown of Portia to settle on Starsand Island. Both characters are voiced by their original voice actors: DJ Horn as Gust and Ariel Marie Highwind as Ginger, with new Japanese voice recordings created for their Starsand Island appearances.
Important: Gust and Ginger are not romanceable. Their friendship is capped at 4 hearts (compared to 5 for the 15 romanceable characters). They are classified as special crossover neighbors with their own dedicated storylines and friendship events. See the relationship system article for how heart levels work.
Gust and Ginger arrive on Summer 23 of Year 1. They do not appear on the island before this date. Once they arrive, they settle into their own homes and become available for daily interaction, gift-giving, and storyline progression.
In My Time at Portia, Gust is a dependable architect and Ginger's protective older brother. On Starsand Island, he can be found near the beach, studying the island's architecture. He is passionate about building, beauty, and design.
Loved: Moonflower, Twilight Succulent.
Liked: Red Sleep Lily, Cucumber, Midnight Herb, Lamb Skewers, Dragon Fruit, Chilled Twilight Salad.
Gust's full gift list is still being documented by the community. Some sources report conflicting data for certain items. Check the in-game Social app for the most current information.
In My Time at Portia, Ginger is known for her gentle personality and fragile health. On Starsand Island, she appreciates the sunshine, flowers, and ocean air. You may spot her reading on the grass or quietly watching the waves.
Loved: Dragon Fruit.
Liked: Watermelon.
Dislikes: Clownfish, Moonstone.
Ginger's full gift list is still being documented. Very limited data is available for her preferences. Check back for updates.
Both characters follow the standard heart system, but are capped at 4 hearts instead of 5:
1 Heart: They begin gifting you during daily interactions.
2 Hearts: You can take photos with them.
3 Hearts: Access to their home and a treasure chest with exclusive decor inside.
4 Hearts (max): Special request board access with character-specific items.
Since they cannot reach 5 hearts, you cannot ask them to move in. They each have their own unique storyline and dedicated friendship events that play out as your friendship deepens.
Ginger's schedule: Ginger stays inside her house for much of the day, making interaction difficult. Since you cannot enter her house until 3 hearts, building early friendship can be slow. Some players have found they can interact with her through a window when she stands near it.
Duplicate Ginger: Some players have reported seeing two Gingers simultaneously. This is likely a visual bug in Early Access.
Request board clutter: Gust and Ginger's request board tasks occupy slots alongside other NPCs, which some players find cluttering.
Gust and Ginger are not the only My Time characters on the island. Fang and Nia from My Time at Sandrock also appear as crossover characters. They arrive on Autumn 1 of Year 1. Like Gust and Ginger, Fang and Nia are capped at 4 hearts and have their own storylines. A "My Time at Starsand Island" bundle is available on Steam containing My Time at Portia, My Time at Sandrock, and Starsand Island.
