NPCs

Initial version (2026-08-26)
NPCs are every character in Soulbound: Online you do not control. They hand out quests, run the shops and banks, teach abilities, take your contracts, and in a few cases stand in for a whole system: the Task Manager is the contract board, and the Weekly and Monthly Vendors are the commission economy. The game marks them out by name colour, with NPC names rendered in tan while player names appear in blue or white, so a glance tells you which is which.
This page is a roster arranged by settlement. Most of it is drawn from player-gathered documentation rather than from patch notes, so read a name as a reliable pointer rather than a guarantee that the character still stands exactly where the list puts them. Where the studio has named someone in a patch note, that is called out, because those are the entries we can be certain about.
Virelda is where a Pioneer starts, and it carries the densest cluster of service characters in the early game.

Four of those are confirmed by the studio. Bud's seed stock had its farming requirements realigned on 20 August 2026. Paul's dialogue after Package Deal was corrected on 7 August 2026 so it stops promising a weapon the quest never awards. Vesper gates Seek and Destroy, which was moved behind Vesper's Challenge in the same patch. The Virelda Chief was appearing in two places at once during Dune It Yourself until 20 August 2026.
Arcadia has the largest named cast in the game so far, and most of a mid-game session that is not spent in a dungeon is spent talking to someone here.
Role | Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Civic head | The Mayor | Governs the city. A duplicate copy left behind by the Diplomatic Relations questline was removed on 20 August 2026 |
Guard captain | Captain Ricken | Commands the Arcadian Guards on the gate |
Magistrate | Magistrate Levi | Buys goods |
Bank | Executive Lora | Personal storage |
General store | Petra | Runs Wefco Mart on the main strip |
Lab | Dr. Fritz | The permanent upgrade bench for abilities and weapons carries his name |
Workshop | Hector | Runs the workshop, and hands over the Ability Configurator |
Bar | Hazel | Owns The Tired Soul, which carries quests and regenerates stamina |
Furnishings | Yoshimoto | Runs the Yoku Forge, which sells apartment furniture |

Special items | Bug Vendor | Trades stock for a currency of its own |
Transport | Train Conductor | Works the underground station |
Quest | Cleo, Clyde, Sven, Tammy and Viper | Turn up across the city's questlines |
Rowan also belongs to Arcadia's cast: the studio fixed his appearance for the City of Light and Shadow interaction on 23 July 2026, which makes him one of the few names here with direct first-party confirmation.
Neo-Tilus is the fishing town, and its cast reflects that.
Role | Name | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Bank | Executive Lera | Banking and item storage |
General vendor | Skipper | Sells a local recall disc, food and a coarse core residue |
Fishmonger | Fishmonger | Converts caught fish into raw fillets at a flat rate in gold |
Teleport registration | HomeDisk Corp. | Sets your home teleport point to Neo-Tilus |
Cosmetics | Librarian | Exchanges a currency of its own for cosmetics |
Quest | Wilson | Starts the fishing questline and teaches an ability at the end of it |
Quest | Finnley | Two recovery quests. A variant of his Yoku Magnet gives better fishing accessory odds |
Quest | Glub | Points you toward the Forever Flower |
Quest | Angel, Marlin, Maris and Shelby | Named around the town |
Event | The Blackwake | Pirates who run the live fishing event off the coast, including a vendor who takes your chum |
Finnley is first-party confirmed: the 20 August 2026 patch adjusted his Yoku Magnet so it beats the standard version by a measurable margin.
Settlement | Role | Name |
|---|---|---|
Everdune | Vendor | Magistrate Taks |
Everdune | Bank | Executive Lora |
Everdune | Guard | Nexus |
Everdune | Quest | Mirelle |
Farpoint | Bank | Executive Lyra |
Farpoint | Vendor | Magistrate Tole |
Hollow Rock | Quest | Noxley |
The Foundation | Quest | The Leader, Jared and Axon |
Mirelle and Noxley are both named by the studio. Mirelle's lost pages had their drop re-enabled on 28 July 2026 and adjusted again on 20 August, and a crash after the Noxley Drill event was fixed on 23 July 2026. The Foundation group is the least certain entry here: the region appears on the world map, but a larger Foundation expansion sits on the studio's plan for later, so treat that row as provisional.
Before Virelda there is a short introductory area with a handful of service characters: a gear vendor, a cosmetic vendor, and an in-game help bot that answers basic questions. Bunny, Clyde and Major are the named characters recorded there. Clyde and Major both turn up again in Arcadia later, so a familiar face early on is not a mistake.
Four names appear in the world's written material rather than as characters you can walk up to: Nadia Althea, Senna Vahi, Leto Kadesh and Darius Harkov. They belong to the story rather than to the service layer, and Lore and Setting is the better page for them.
Almost every system in the game has a character attached to it. The contract board and the two commission vendors sit in the guild, covered on The Pioneers Guild. The event vendors appear and disappear with the rotation described on Live Events and Commissions. Ability teachers are tied to specific quests, and the ability roster itself is on Classes and Abilities. Vendors who buy your produce are the floor price underneath the player economy described on The Overworld.
Character placement, vendor stock and the services attached to each name are being tuned during Early Access, so treat locations and stock as current rather than fixed.
