Showa American Story is a single-player action RPG from Wuhan studio NEKCOM Entertainment, published by 4Divinity worldwide and by 2P Games across Asia outside Japan. It is set in an alternate timeline where Japan's economic boom never ended, Japanese capital and culture bought out much of the United States, and a mysterious catastrophe then tore the country apart and left it overrun by zombies, monsters, and scattered survivor factions. Players take the role of Chigusa Choko, a teenage stuntwoman who wakes from her own grave with a strange new power and sets out on a road trip across the ruins in search of the truth. It pairs real-time melee and ranged combat, complete with dodges, counters, and executions, with semi-open sandbox cities, side stories, minigames, and dialogue choices, all wrapped in a B-movie tone drawn from 1980s American and Japanese pop culture. It is planned for 2026 on PC and PlayStation 5.
