The Japanese voice cast for Showa American Story was revealed in the trailer shown at gamescom Opening Night Live on 25 August 2026. Four characters were cast, and a narrator was credited for the trailer itself.
Announced Cast
Character | Japanese voice |
|---|---|
Yoko Hikasa | |
Hideo Ishikawa | |
Hochu Otsuka | |
Hikaru Midorikawa |
The four roles cover the protagonist and three of the characters the game's English materials have named. Character detail for each of them lives on their own pages.
Joji Nakata narrated the gamescom 2026 trailer. That credit is for the trailer narration only. As of September 2026 he has not been announced in a character role, which is why he is listed separately here rather than in the table above.
The publisher's own copy describes that trailer as narrated by the anime-loving President, a figure who exists inside the game's fiction. Whether Joji Nakata voices that figure as a character, or simply reads the trailer, has not been stated as of September 2026. The two facts sit next to each other and this page does not merge them.
That is the entire announced cast. As of September 2026 no other role has been cast in any published material, including other named characters such as Aya, and no English or Chinese cast has been announced.
Languages
The studio said in 2024 that Japanese would be an original recorded language for the game rather than a dub laid over another performance. That statement covered Japanese and nothing else.
The store listing as of September 2026 gives full audio in English, Japanese and Simplified Chinese, with Traditional Chinese available as text only. Nothing published confirms that an English performance has been recorded, and no performer in any language other than Japanese has been named. The build shown at gamescom 2026 Demo carried Japanese voice with a choice of Japanese, English or Chinese text.
The cast announcement was part of the game's return to public view in August 2026, which is covered on Development History. It arrived in the same trailer that carried the studio's note that all footage was recorded from the actual game and that the current version does not represent its final quality.
Platform and language details for the finished game are on Release and Platforms.
