The Golden Gate Bridge (金門橋) is the San Francisco landmark as the game's world has redressed it, and the setting of the Chapter 4 boss fight shown in the gamescom 2026 demo.
The Bridge in the Showa 66 World
San Francisco keeps its real name in the game's list of cities, and so does its bridge, but neither keeps its look. In the game's art the bridge is hung with Japanese paper lanterns and shimenawa rope. The creative director explained that treatment in 2024 with a simple analogy: the team imagined a Japantown the way a person imagines a Chinatown. In the gamescom 2026 trailer the bridge appears on fire.
The Chapter 4 Fight
First-party copy for the demo sets the scene plainly. Chasing after the mysterious Man in Black, Chigusa Choko eventually arrives at the Golden Gate Bridge, and a deadly battle beneath the moonlight is about to begin.
In the build shown at gamescom 2026 the fight is long and runs through several phases, with cutscenes, a chase sequence and quick-time prompts flowing into each other rather than sitting in separate blocks. Also seen in that build: freeze-frame comic-panel cutscenes, blade-clash prompts, dismemberment that accumulated as the fight wore on, and a stretch spent dodging cars. It was described as a demanding encounter in an earlier build than the one shown at gamescom 2026. All of it is demo material, and the developers state that its parameters were adjusted and that its system details do not represent the final game.
Combat and Break Gauge and Executions cover the systems underneath the fight, and Bosses covers the game's boss encounters.
The Opponent
The demo's Chapter 4 opponent is the Man in Black. As of September 2026 the developers have not said whether Mutsuki Akitora is the Man in Black whom Choko pursues in Chapter 4. The two have been widely linked since the gamescom demo, but nothing official confirms it, and this page does not treat them as the same character.
The bridge sits in San Francisco, one of the four cities named for the game on Cities and World Structure.
