Skills are the passive and triggered abilities a unit brings into a fight in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave. Twenty-four have been named as of September 2026, sorted into personal skills, which belong to a single character, and combat skills, which are shared. Three named skills have a published effect. The rest are names on a roster, and this page lists them as names.
A unit carries up to five equippable abilities at once, chosen from the ones it has learned, and those five slots are the whole of the player's discretion over the list. Alongside them, and not competing for the slots, sits the Class Ability its current class hands it automatically. That passive changes when the class does, so a certification is also a quiet change to what a unit brings into a fight.
The split matters for reading the roster below. Some of these names are things a player equips and some are things a unit simply has, and published material rarely says which is which. Both kinds turn up in the forecast list described further down this page, which is why an entry appearing there is not proof that it occupies a slot.
Four personal skills appear on the roster. None of them has been matched to a character in released material.
Skill | What Is Known |
|---|---|
Accelerate | Name only |
Veteran's Mettle | Name only |
Safety First | Name only |
Sharpshooter | Name only |
Two more personal skills have been named outside that roster. Ursula's is Merchants' Manager, which lets her and nearby allies pull items out of Storage in the middle of a battle. Olympia's is Rivalry, which raises her critical rate when she attacks with magic.
Twenty combat skills have been named. Two carry a published effect; the others are names with nothing attached.
Skill | What Is Known |
|---|---|
Aegis | Name only |
Airfighter | Name only |
Black-Magic Seeker | Name only |
Blind Speed | Name only |
Name only | |
Mount/Dismount | Name only. Dismounting is reported to return as a class skill rather than a menu action |
Flitting Flyer | Name only |
Focused Counter | Name only |
Knightly Senses | Name only |
Magic Hit +5 | Name only. The name states a hit bonus for magic, but no listing confirms it |
Murderous Intent | Name only |
No Mercy + | Name only |
Racing Attack | Name only |
Redblade's Will | Name only |
Read the Winds | Name only |
Rein | Inflicts Avoid -3 on adjacent foes |
Strike Last Defence | Name only |
Underworld Boon | Halves incoming damage unless the attack is effective against the bearer |
Upper Hand | Name only |
With My Steed | Name only |
Underworld Boon halves the damage its bearer takes, and the reduction drops away when the incoming attack is effective against them. It belongs to the underworld side of the board. Balor's forces carry it, and volunteering at the temple of Aurora earns a blessing that strips it for a turn, which is the clearest link the game has shown between Temple Blessings and the endgame enemy.
Cleansing Blade negates an opponent's Underworld Boon, and its effect fires at the start of combat rather than on the swing. It is not on the roster of twenty-four; it was read off a combat forecast, first transcribed as Purifying Sword from earlier footage and then corrected once the English text was legible on screen. In the battle where it was seen, Ursula's opponent was one of the risen dead, and its Underworld Boon showed in the forecast as cancelled.
Rein inflicts Avoid -3 on adjacent foes. Preview footage shows Theodora unlocking it at rank D in Authority, the only case so far of a skill being tied to a specific weapon rank on screen.
The forecast lists every effect that applies to a unit in that exchange, which is where most of what is known about skills has come from. Several entries appear there that are not on the named roster.
Entry | Where It Appeared |
|---|---|
Sword Prowess | Second of six entries on Ursula's forecast |
Brawling Prowess | Third of four entries on Anatolia's forecast |
Axe Prowess | On Orchel's forecast in a later battle, replacing an entry she carried earlier |
Magic Basics | On Anatolia's forecast; raises Magic and Resistance by 1 each |
Momentum Prediction | On Orchel's forecast, where it triggered at the start of combat |
Merchants' Manager | Ursula's personal skill, named in her published profile |
The number of entries a unit shows is not fixed. Ursula showed six. Anatolia showed four with gauntlets equipped, two without them, and one at a lower level, so weapon type and level both appear to feed the display. Crest entries take slots in the same list, and so do buffs handed over by a nearby ally. Three further icons in these forecasts were read as weapon-mastery skills, but the account that transcribed them marked all three uncertain, so they are not recorded here.
Twenty-two of the twenty-four named skills have nothing attached but a name, and that was still true as of September 2026, checked against the presentations, the hands-on preview wave and the dedicated skill listings. Nothing has been published about activation rates, about how a skill is learned, or about whether skills carry between classes the way weapon proficiency does. There is no published cap on how many a unit can equip, and no key for the icons the forecast uses. The one structural hint is Rein's tie to a weapon rank, and a single instance is not a system.
For how a forecast is assembled and what else feeds into it, see Combat System. Attacks paid for in weapon durability are covered on Combat Arts, the marks that share slots in the same list on Crests, and the classes that carry skills of their own on Classes.
