Wastepaper is an item in Pokemon Pokopia classified as a litter material. It is one of the most common materials a player will accumulate and is the input for paper crafting via the Recycle specialty.
Region | Notes |
|---|---|
Common find on the floating islands; cleaning up cluttered platforms yields wastepaper at a steady rate. | |
Picked up while clearing the area for habitat construction. | |
Dragonite Doll Dream Island | Wastepaper spawns regularly on this Dream Island; useful when farming for paper crafting. |
Other Dream Islands | Many Dream Islands have wastepaper as a low-tier litter spawn. |
Wastepaper feeds into the recycling chain. Bring a Pokemon with the Recycle specialty near a community box stocked with wastepaper, and that Pokemon will convert it into Paper over time. Paper is then used in books, signs, decorations, and other crafting recipes.
Any Pokemon with the Recycle specialty can recycle wastepaper. Common early-game options include Trubbish and Garbodor. Place a community box near your Recycle Pokemon's home, drop wastepaper into it, and the Pokemon will work through the pile passively.
Wastepaper is one of the easiest litter items to gather. Always pick it up rather than leaving it on the ground; it stacks high and feeds many recipes.
Pair a Recycle Pokemon with a Litter Pokemon for an automated trash-to-paper pipeline. The Litter Pokemon drops wastepaper, and the Recycle Pokemon converts it.
Stockpile paper before tackling any recipe that requires it in bulk; many decoration items need multiple sheets per craft.
When clearing a new region, sweep wastepaper into a community box first so it does not despawn.
Wastepaper holds little trade value at the Cash Register, so prefer to recycle it into paper rather than sell it raw.
Paper: refined product made from wastepaper via the Recycle specialty.
Recycle specialty: the Pokemon ability that processes wastepaper into paper.
Community Box: storage container that lets Recycle Pokemon access dropped materials.
Trade Specialty: alternative way to monetize wastepaper at the Cash Register, though paper is the more valuable form.
