Persona 4 Revival was publicly revealed in June 2025. The announcement was made as part of the Xbox Games Showcase. At the time of reveal, the game was in an early stage of development. For platform specifics see Platforms and Release; for the wider game overview see Persona 4 Revival.

The Xbox Games Showcase Reveal
The game was revealed with a teaser trailer during the Xbox Games Showcase on June 8, 2025 (Pacific) / June 9, 2025 (Japan). The accompanying press release framed Persona 4 Revival as the newest entry of the Persona role-playing series and confirmed PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows, and Steam as launch platforms.
The trailer contained early-development footage rather than a full gameplay reveal. Among the locations briefly shown were the high school classroom, the riverbank floodplain, and the shopping district of Inaba. The footage signaled the visual direction for the remake without demonstrating finished gameplay systems.
Producer's Stated Intentions
Producer Kazuhisa Wada spoke about the project at the time of the announcement. He described the team's approach as working with passion and love, and said the intent is to deliver a fresh and surprising experience for both players new to Persona 4 and long-time fans of the series.
Wada also noted that the original Persona 4 already contained a large amount of content, in particular through Persona 4 Golden. He clarified that the goal is not simply to add more on top of that, but to create something enjoyable in a new and different way, and acknowledged the project as a tough challenge that is shaping up nicely.
In a separate message tied to the reveal, Wada described Persona 4 as a special title that has been part of Atlus for many years and that holds a personal place for him, and noted the original spawned spin-offs across multiple media formats over the years since 2008.
30th Anniversary Context
2026 marks the 30th anniversary of the Persona franchise, which has sold over 23.5 million copies worldwide. In late 2025, Wada confirmed that 2026 will be a time when Atlus can talk about new games such as Persona 4 Revival, alongside wider anniversary initiatives planned at a global scale. Producer Atsushi Nomura also acknowledged the volume of fan support for Revival and pointed to future announcements rather than a release date.
May 2026 Statement
In May 2026, Wada reiterated that a release window for Persona 4 Revival cannot yet be announced, and asked fans to focus on the Nintendo Switch 2 port of Persona 3 Reload that releases later in October. The same comments confirmed that several P-Studio projects, including Persona 4 Revival, are in active development. As of the latest update, a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Persona 4 Revival has not been announced.
June 2026 Release Date Reveal
At a June 2026 Xbox Games Showcase, Atlus returned to Persona 4 Revival with a new trailer and announced a firm worldwide release date of February 18, 2027. The game launches the same day on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and pre-orders opened alongside the announcement. Where the original 2025 reveal carried only a teaser, this second trailer offered a fuller look at the remake in action, including its combat. Day one availability on Xbox Game Pass was reiterated. For the systems shown, see Gameplay Overview.
June 18, 2026 Broadcast
Following the showcase reveal, Atlus scheduled a dedicated Persona 4 Revival broadcast for June 18, 2026, at 4:00 PM Pacific (7:00 PM Eastern, and the morning of June 19 in Japan). Hosted by creative producer and P-Studio director Kazuhisa Wada, the stream airs on the Official ATLUS West YouTube channel and on Steam, and is set to share a deeper dive into the game's story, characters, and battle systems. The broadcast went on to detail the remake’s combat additions, its modern "stress-free" design direction, the expanded and fully voiced Social Links, and the reworked soundtrack.
July 2026 Character Trailers and Animated Cutscenes
In early July 2026, at Anime Expo, Atlus continued the pre-launch rollout with individual character trailers and a first look at the remake’s animated cutscenes. A trailer spotlighting protagonist Yu Narukami arrived first, followed by one for Rise Kujikawa.
The presentation confirmed that the animation studio MAPPA is producing all of the in-game anime cutscenes for Persona 4 Revival, and a preview clip showed the protagonist facing a Shadow in a fully animated sequence. The Rise trailer also revealed her recast English voice, Abby Trott, with Rie Kugimiya reprising the role in Japanese.
Music and Voice
The remake's soundtrack is composed by Ryota Kozuka of the Atlus Sound Team, who previously contributed to the original Persona 4 and the modern Shin Megami Tensei titles. Series newcomer Shiori Sasaki takes over as the lead vocalist, replacing longtime Persona 4 singer Shihoko Hirata, and new vocal tracks debut alongside the reveal trailers. The English voice cast has been recast with new actors in the primary roles.
Alongside the new recordings, Atlus has confirmed that Persona 4 Revival presents an enhanced main story with re-recorded cutscenes, fully voiced Social Links, and a number of new events. Full voice acting for the Social Link conversations is a notable addition, as those scenes were not fully voiced in the original release.
The remake’s music is built around new arrangements of the original score. Atlus has confirmed brand-new tracks, including a new opening theme and new battle music, alongside reworked versions of established songs such as "Your Affection" and "Heartbreak, Heartbreak." Ryota Kozuka, who handles the soundtrack, previously worked on the original game’s "Junes Theme" and on the modern mainline Shin Megami Tensei titles.
On the voice side, the English cast is entirely new while the original Japanese cast returns. Confirmed English roles so far include Nazeeh Tarsha as the protagonist, Paul Castro Jr. as Yosuke, Anne Yatco as Chie, Brianna Knickerbocker as Yukiko, and Ari Thrash as Marie. A fuller breakdown, including the returning Japanese performers, is on the Voice Cast page.
Development Context
Persona 4 Revival is in development at Atlus, led by P-Studio. Co-development support has been reported from the Japanese third-party studio Tose, which lists a multi-platform project in the final phase of its fiscal year ending August 31, 2026; that target excludes localization work. The remake follows the model established by Persona 3 Reload: character models and assets are rebuilt from the ground up, and the presentation is brought up to the visual standard of Atlus’s recent Persona titles, with a recast English voice cast.
The June 2025 reveal came with only a teaser, but a second trailer at the June 2026 showcase provided a fuller look at the remake's combat and locked in the February 18, 2027 release date. Finer points about story changes and the full scope of additional content remain to be detailed.
