Gervais is one of the premade Parafolk households in Paralives and one of the eleven households given a developer-written biography. It is a placed household in the town of Melino. The household consists of a single resident: Julien Gervais. It is one half of the founding cast’s clearest inter-household storyline.

Resident Premise

Julien Gervais is a young-adult corporate perfectionist who is devoted to his job as a creative director. His biography adds a personal twist: he harbors a secret crush on his rival, Samantha Stark. That unspoken attraction across a professional rivalry is the most explicit narrative hook the developers built into the founding cast, and it links the Gervais household directly to the Stark household.

The Stark Rivalry

Julien and Samantha Stark are written as rivals, with Julien’s crush left unspoken. Because both are placed households in the same town, the player can choose to push the two together, keep them as competitors, or let the relationship develop in whatever direction emerges through play. The Stark household covers the same storyline from Samantha’s side.

Playing the Household

Gervais loads directly in Live Mode as a single-resident placed household. Julien’s creative-director role runs through the Careers system, and his perfectionism colors how he experiences Emotions and pursues Wants. Any relationship with Samantha Stark develops through the Relationships and Social System and its Together Cards, which can steer two characters toward rivalry, friendship, or romance.

Status in the Launch Build

The Gervais household is confirmed as part of the premade lineup that shipped with the Early Access launch on May 25, 2026. It is one of the placed households in the pre-made town of Melino, meaning players who load the default save will find the family already living on its lot. The developer-written biography that frames the household is part of this launch cast.

Out of Scope

Julien’s exact age, starting funds, Vibe, Talent, and the specific lot he occupies in Melino are community-reported and not confirmed by the studio. His name, his Young Adult lifestage, his creative-director career, the unspoken crush on Samantha Stark, and the developer-written premise are the confirmed facts. Whether the crush resolves is entirely down to player choice in a given save.
