Yasui Konpiragu Shrine is a real Kyoto shrine that Capcom rebuilt for Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and it is one of the game's confirmed environments. Capcom's official location material describes it directly: "A shrine renowned for its power to both sever and bind fates. The Genma and Malice's influence has given the shrine grounds the aura of a vibrant paradise, but one that veers into the uncanny."

Yasui Konpiragu Shrine appears on Capcom's own official location page as one of the game's named settings, alongside Kiyomizu-dera Temple, the Underground Laboratory and Mount Oe. Trusted press coverage of the retail build separately lists it among the real Kyoto sites the studio faithfully reproduced, alongside Kiyomizu-dera, Rokudo-chinnoji Temple and Kennin-ji Temple.
Capcom's official character page ties a specific antagonist to the shrine. Rasho-gan is described as "a cunning Genma who has brought harm to many at Yasui Konpiragu Shrine, under the guise of answering their prayers," and as employing threads extended from its own body to launch surprise attacks. That framing turns the shrine's traditional reputation for granting wishes into the mechanism of the threat itself: visitors who came seeking to sever bad ties or bind good ones were preyed upon by Genma posing as an answer to their prayers.
Capcom's own description leans on contrast rather than simple horror: the Malice and Genma influence has not stripped the shrine of its beauty. Instead it has pushed that beauty into something uncanny, a grounds that still reads as a vibrant paradise while carrying an unmistakable wrongness underneath. That framing matches the game's wider pattern of corrupting recognisable, beautiful places rather than replacing them with generic ruin.
Yasui Konpiragu Shrine's identity as a real Kyoto site rebuilt for the game, its role as the setting of the Rasho-gan encounter, and its described uncanny-paradise atmosphere are confirmed directly by Capcom. This officially confirms a location that earlier coverage of the game had only carried as a single-source hedge. Capcom has not published further detail on the shrine's internal layout or how many encounters it holds beyond the confirmed fight with Rasho-gan.
