Dohatsu-Ten is a genma boss in Onimusha: Way of the Sword, first shown during the June 2026 Capcom Spotlight. It is presented as a powerful enemy that fights Musashi Miyamoto with both raw strength and high speed, pressing him with swift, devastating attacks.

Appearance and Origin

Dohatsu-Ten is described as a terrifyingly fast and bloodthirsty Genma, a winged warrior that carves its way out of the underworld and into the mortal world. When it reaches Edo-era Kyoto, it locks blades with Musashi in a direct duel, matching the human swordsman strike for strike rather than relying purely on size or monstrous reach the way bosses such as the Greater Nue do.

The Bloodthirsty Sword

Dohatsu-Ten's signature trait is its sword. The blade is bloodthirsty: it grows increasingly powerful the more it is stained with Musashi's blood, so every hit the boss lands raises the threat of the next exchange. Its power also surges as it absorbs souls, which turns the same battlefield resource Musashi depends on into a danger when the boss feeds on it. Left unchecked, the sword becomes more dangerous as the fight drags on, pushing the player to end the duel cleanly instead of trading blows.

This makes Dohatsu-Ten a counter-focused encounter. Avoiding damage keeps the boss's sword weaker, while careless play hands it the blood and souls it needs to escalate, so the fight rewards the same precise defense the combat system is built around, especially the Issen counter and well-timed deflects.

Status

Dohatsu-Ten was revealed alongside a full game overview ahead of the September 25, 2026 launch. Only the boss's introduction has been shown so far, so its full moveset, fight phases, and place in the campaign are not yet detailed. The confirmed details are its role as a fast, aggressive Genma duelist and its blood-and-soul-fed sword.
