Overview
KongMu is the overarching equipment and gear system in Neverness to Everness. Every playable character has six equipment slots that determine their combat stats beyond base character attributes. The system features two primary equipment types (Disks and Drive Blocks) that fill these slots, along with additional gear categories that complement the core loadout.
Equipment Types
Type | Slots | Main Attribute | Key Features |
|---|---|---|---|
Disks | 2 slots | Randomly generated | Two-piece disk set effects form primary attribute framework. Gold and purple rarity offer enhanced attributes and unique bonuses. |
Drive Blocks | 4 slots | Fixed | Secondary attributes randomly generated with fixed values. More secondary affixes unlock with drive block space. |
Weapon slot | Varies by Arc | Weapon items that define the character's attack style and provide Break Intensity and other combat stats. | |
Consoles | Artifact slots | Varies | Artifact-like Tetris pieces that fit into a grid. Provide additional stat bonuses based on configuration. |

Disks
Disks occupy two of the six KongMu equipment slots. Both the main and secondary attributes on Disks are randomly generated, meaning that finding an optimal Disk requires farming for the right stat combinations. Disks come in various rarity tiers, with gold and purple rarity offering enhanced base attributes and unique set bonuses.
Two-piece Disk set effects are a critical part of character building. Equipping two Disks from the same set activates a set bonus that forms the primary attribute framework for the character's build. Players often target specific Disk sets that complement their character's element and playstyle.
Drive Blocks
Drive Blocks occupy four of the six KongMu equipment slots. Unlike Disks, Drive Blocks have a fixed main attribute, which means the primary stat is predictable. However, their secondary attributes are randomly generated with fixed values. As a Drive Block's "space" increases (through enhancement or rarity), more secondary affixes become available, adding layers of stat customization.
Stat Visibility
One player-friendly design choice in the KongMu system is that secondary affix values are viewable immediately upon acquiring a piece of equipment. Players do not need to spend resources or unlock stats to see what a piece offers. This transparency allows for quicker evaluation of whether a drop is worth keeping or should be consumed as enhancement material.
Enhancement and Acquisition
Both Disks and Drive Blocks can be consumed as enhancement materials to strengthen other equipment pieces. This creates a natural recycling loop where weaker drops feed into the enhancement of better ones.
Equipment is obtained through three primary methods:
Defeating monsters and bosses in combat encounters.
Completing missions, quests, and dungeon runs.
Shopping at in-game stores that sell equipment.
