Overview

Contemplative Cat is an S-Class Arc in Neverness to Everness. It is a unique Arc whose power is tied directly to the player's wealth. For every 100,000 Fons (the game's primary currency) the player holds, the wielder gains an ATK bonus. This effect stacks up to 10 times, meaning the full bonus requires the player to maintain a reserve of at least 1,000,000 Fons.

At maximum level with a full Fons reserve, Contemplative Cat provides a staggering 100% ATK bonus, the highest raw ATK buff available from any single Arc in the game. However, this power comes with a significant opportunity cost: the player must resist spending their Fons on upgrades, gear, and other progression systems in order to maintain the buff. Contemplative Cat rewards patient, resource-conscious players who can manage their finances carefully.

The flavor text is a whimsical riff on the classic philosophical question about the meaning of existence. Where most seek deep, profound answers, the Contemplative Cat arrives at a characteristically feline conclusion: yarn. The humor undercuts the philosophical pretension, suggesting that the pursuit of meaning is less important than finding joy in simple things. In gameplay terms, this philosophy is reflected in the Arc's mechanic: rather than chasing complex combat triggers, the wielder simply needs to hold onto their money.

Passive Effect

Contemplative Cat provides a stacking ATK bonus based on the player's Fons holdings. For every 100,000 Fons in the player's wallet, the wielder gains one stack of the ATK bonus. The effect caps at 10 stacks (1,000,000 Fons). The stacks update dynamically; if the player spends Fons and drops below a threshold, the corresponding stack is lost immediately.

At L5, each 100,000 Fons held provides 10% ATK. With the full 1,000,000 Fons reserve, the wielder receives a 100% ATK increase. This effectively doubles the character's base ATK from a single equipment slot, making Contemplative Cat the most powerful raw ATK booster among all Arcs.

Arc Ability

Contemplative Cat does not have an active Arc Ability. Its entire power budget is invested in the passive ATK stacking mechanic. This simplifies the wielder's combat rotation, as there is no ability to activate or time. The trade-off is that the Arc provides no burst damage option or utility effect; its contribution is purely statistical.

Recommended Characters

Contemplative Cat is best suited for any DPS character whose damage output scales directly with ATK. Since the bonus is a percentage increase to ATK, characters with high base ATK values benefit the most in absolute terms.

• Any main DPS character benefits from Contemplative Cat, regardless of element or playstyle. The ATK bonus is unconditional and does not require specific combat actions to maintain.

• Characters who have abilities that scale with total ATK (such as ATK-scaling heals or shields) gain double value, as the bonus affects both their damage and their supportive capabilities.

• Characters with percentage-based damage multipliers in their kit (such as high skill multipliers) benefit more from ATK increases than characters with flat damage bonuses.

Contemplative Cat is not recommended for characters in a support role who do not deal significant damage, since the ATK bonus does nothing for healing, shielding, or crowd control that does not scale with ATK.

How to Obtain

Contemplative Cat can be purchased from the Arc Shop for 25 Tri-Keys. As with all S-Class Arcs, it is acquired through gameplay currency rather than gacha pulls. Tri-Key is earned through story progression, Anomaly Commissions, events, and other gameplay activities.

Consider your spending habits before purchasing Contemplative Cat. If you tend to spend Fons freely on upgrades and gear, maintaining the 1,000,000 Fons reserve needed for maximum stacks may be difficult. Players who prefer to stockpile resources naturally will find this Arc much easier to maintain at full power.

Strategy and Tips

1. Build your Fons reserve early. Start saving Fons as soon as you acquire Contemplative Cat. The sooner you reach 1,000,000 Fons, the sooner you unlock the full ATK bonus. Prioritize Fons-earning activities such as daily commissions, event rewards, and selling unneeded materials.

2. Avoid unnecessary spending. Every Fons spent below a 100,000 threshold costs you an ATK stack. Plan your upgrades carefully. Batch your spending to minimize time spent below key thresholds, and avoid impulse purchases on cosmetics or low-priority gear.

3. Track your Fons relative to stack thresholds. The stacks update in real time. If you have 950,000 Fons and spend 60,000, you drop from 9 stacks to 8 stacks. Be aware of where you stand relative to each 100,000 increment.

4. Partial stacks are still valuable. You do not need the full 1,000,000 Fons to benefit from Contemplative Cat. Even at 500,000 Fons (5 stacks), an L5 Contemplative Cat provides 50% ATK, which is competitive with other S-Class Arcs at their maximum output. Do not ignore the Arc just because you cannot immediately reach full stacks.

5. Pair with percentage-based damage sources. Since Contemplative Cat provides a flat ATK percentage increase, it multiplies effectively with other percentage-based damage bonuses from KongMu Gear and Console Equipment. Stack ATK% from Contemplative Cat with DMG% bonuses from other sources for the highest overall damage output.
