Overview
Cosmos is one of the six Esper elements in Neverness to Everness. The six elements that make up the Esper Cycle are Cosmos, Anima, Incantation, Chaos, Psyche, and Lakshana. Each element participates in specific duo and trio reactions when characters swap in and out of combat, triggering powerful combined effects through the Esper Cycle System.
Cosmos sits between Lakshana and Anima in the elemental cycle. When paired with Anima, it triggers the Blossom reaction. When paired with Lakshana, it triggers the Remora reaction. A trio reaction called Charge activates when Blossom hits an enemy already marked by Remora.
Cosmos characters fill diverse combat roles. The roster includes hard-hitting on-field damage dealers, a time-manipulating burst DPS support, a finance-themed damage specialist, and a healing-focused survival support. Building a team around Cosmos rewards players who coordinate elemental swaps to keep both Blossom and Remora active, converting sustained pressure into ultimate energy through the Charge trio reaction.
Cosmos Characters
Four playable characters currently carry the Cosmos element. The table below summarizes their key attributes.
Character | Rank | Arc Type | Weapon | Role | Faction |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
S-Class | Solid | Sword | Main DPS | ||
S-Class | Solid | Umbrella Katana | Burst DPS / Buff | ||
S-Class | Gas | Staff | Main DPS | Dvorak Family | |
A-Class | Liquid | Backpack | Survival / Healing |
Esper Zero
Esper Zero is the main protagonist of Neverness to Everness and an S-Class Cosmos damage dealer with Solid arc compatibility. Zero wields a sword and channels Cosmos energy through a five-hit basic attack combo called Appraisal: Severance. Their skill, Appraise and Engrave, delivers three consecutive weapon strikes followed by an Esper Cannon shot that deals Cosmos damage in an area.
Zero's ultimate, Divide by Zero, unleashes a sweeping blade dance that hits multiple times across a wide area. The ultimate benefits from built-in bonus scaling through Zero's passive, making it one of the harder-hitting ultimates among the launch roster. Zero excels as a consistent on-field damage dealer who can drive Cosmos reactions without complex setup.
Hotori
Hotori is an S-Class Cosmos character and the proprietress of the Eibon Antique Shop. She wields an umbrella katana and specializes in burst DPS and team damage buffing through her unique time manipulation mechanic. Hotori's basic attack, Misty Moon Style, builds energy for her Non-Closed Timepiece (up to 120 energy) while performing melee combos.
Her support skill, Present Replay, consumes 60 timepiece energy to deal seven instances of Cosmos damage while recording ally support and redirect skills over five seconds. When her timepiece is fully charged, Hotori can activate her ultimate, World's Tide, which deals ten damage instances and enters a time-stop mode. During this state, she replays all recorded attacks once and builds combo stacks for a powerful finisher at ten stacks. Her Esper Cycle Passive, Ghost Orchid Crest, keeps Blossom attacks (Lebenstamm) active even during her time-stop phase, ensuring that elemental reactions continue to fire.
Chiz
Chiz is an S-Class Cosmos character with Gas arc compatibility who serves as the dependable manager of the Pink Paws Bank. Her combat revolves around the Grain Market system, a unique resource mechanic that mirrors stock market fluctuations. Basic attacks with her staff (Exiled Swordplay) generate Grain, and her redirect skill, Pink Paws Priority Principle, can accumulate up to three charges. Holding the skill consumes charges and Grain to deal continuous damage, with bonus damage scaling based on the current Grain count.
Her ultimate, Zero-Sum Game, enters the Grain Market for seven seconds, converting remaining Grain Loans into Grain. Settlement amounts depend on Grain Price fluctuations during the window. Chiz's Esper Cycle Passive, Hanahaki Disease, grants active characters four additional Charge stacks. However, her Hoarding passive prevents other team members from gaining Charge while increasing her own Charge efficiency by 20%, making her a self-sufficient damage carry.
Edgar
Edgar is the only A-Class Cosmos character in the current roster. He is a member of the Eibon Antique Shop and fills the Survival and Healing role with Liquid arc compatibility. Despite his youthful appearance, Edgar is mature for his age and carries himself with an old-fashioned demeanor.
Edgar's basic attack, Combat Practice, delivers up to five consecutive hits dealing Cosmos damage. His redirect skill, Wild Current, channels continuous attacks while healing the lowest-HP teammate. The cooldown increases based on how long the skill is channeled. His ultimate, Finnegan's Wake, creates a 10-second domain that deals area Cosmos damage and provides continuous healing to the active character throughout its duration.
Edgar's passive, Gentle Edge, grants 120 ultimate energy when teammates trigger Charge via support skills (with a 30-second cooldown). His Unchanging Warmth passive causes support skill casts to grant Keys of Truth (maximum three), each extending his ultimate's duration by one second. These passives make Edgar a natural fit for Cosmos teams that rely on the Charge trio reaction.
Duo Reactions
Cosmos participates in two duo reactions within the Esper Cycle System. Duo reactions trigger when the active character swaps to a teammate whose element forms a valid pair with the outgoing element. Each character has an Esper Cycle Meter that charges through continuous attacks, skill usage, or successful parries.
Blossom (Cosmos + Anima)
Blossom is the duo reaction triggered by combining Cosmos and Anima. When activated, it spawns an autonomous attacker called a Lebenstamm that deals area Cosmos damage over time. The Lebenstamm operates independently, continuing to hit enemies while the active character focuses on other actions. This makes Blossom one of the most comfortable reactions in the game because it adds offensive pressure without demanding extra field time from the player.
Several characters have Esper Cycle Passives that enhance Blossom. Nanally's Blossom Enhancement spawns one additional Lebenstamm per activation, allowing up to six Lebenstamms on the field at once. Hotori's Ghost Orchid Crest prevents Lebenstamm attacks from pausing during her time-stop state, keeping Blossom damage flowing continuously.
Remora (Lakshana + Cosmos)
Remora is the duo reaction triggered by combining Lakshana and Cosmos. When activated, Remora marks the target and slows both their movement speed and attack speed. Unlike damage-focused reactions, Remora is a control-oriented effect designed to stabilize fights and create cleaner follow-up windows for the rest of the team.
Remora is less flashy than reactions like Blossom or Scorch, but its utility should not be underestimated. The movement and attack speed debuff makes it significantly easier to dodge enemy attacks, land combos, and maintain Esper Cycle rotations. Characters like Hathor (Lakshana) pair naturally with Cosmos characters to trigger Remora consistently.
Trio Reactions
Charge (Blossom + Remora)
Charge is the trio reaction that activates when a Blossom-spawned Lebenstamm hits an enemy already marked by Remora. Each hit grants the active character ultimate energy. This combination converts the passive pressure of Blossom and the control utility of Remora into a tangible resource advantage, keeping ultimate abilities available more frequently.
Charge is what makes certain control-oriented team compositions much more effective at maintaining ultimate rotations. Because Lebenstamms attack automatically and Remora's mark persists, the Charge trio reaction generates energy without requiring any additional input from the player once both duo reactions are active. This synergy is central to the Lakshana/Cosmos/Anima team archetype.
Team Building Tips
A Lakshana/Cosmos/Anima team composition is the primary framework for Cosmos-based squads. This trio route is more control-oriented than it might appear at first glance. Remora slows the enemy, Blossom keeps passive pressure on the field through Lebenstamms, and Charge converts that entire chain into ultimate energy. The result is a team that excels at both crowd control and energy generation within the same structure.
One of the strongest all-around teams for Cosmos is Esper Zero + Nanally + Hathor + Fadia. In this lineup, Zero acts as the on-field damage driver, Nanally boosts Blossom by spawning additional Lebenstamms, Hathor strengthens Remora as a Lakshana character, and Fadia provides defensive support to keep the team alive. Every slot has a clear purpose, making this one of the cleanest complete teams available.
When building around Hotori, consider pairing her with characters who benefit from her time-stop mechanic. Since her Ghost Orchid Crest keeps Lebenstamms active during time stop, Anima teammates that generate more Lebenstamms (like Nanally) synergize especially well.
For players using Chiz, keep in mind that her Hoarding passive prevents teammates from gaining Charge. This means Chiz works best as a self-contained damage carry rather than a team-wide Charge battery. Pair her with supports who do not rely on Charge generation and who can keep Remora active for the slow and follow-up benefits.
Edgar fits naturally into any Cosmos team that activates the Charge trio reaction. His Gentle Edge passive grants 120 ultimate energy when teammates trigger Charge through support skills, and his Keys of Truth mechanic extends his healing ultimate's duration. Edgar is particularly valuable in extended fights where sustained healing and frequent ultimates are more important than raw damage output.
